Planned on attending the 2014 Shanghai GP during a trip to China, was working on the 2013 dates.
All planned and booked, to late to change holidays & flights etc.
Will ensure I get it right for 2015.

Only 1 big mistake.Didn't visit the USSR in 1983 when invited by their Ambassador to Australia.Another long story.

It's funny how often places that tourists are most likely to ask for help, ie hotels, tourist information bureaux are the worst for advice on local public transport. ( I'm looking directly at Sydney with the latter comment)

I would say that some of that is down to the operator.

Having said that, it isn't hard for a modern tourist/traveler to do some research themselves.

In my hotel's case, they have cable car info in the lift as it is one block from the Powell cable cars.

I have not had any problems with the scratchie type passports available from Walgreens and the like, most recently in May 2013. I buy them from the information desks at SFO. Just show them to the bus or streetcar operator, or the conductor on cable cars. Only disadvantage may be the need to go through the staffed gate at the downtown Muni stations.

I agree that Muni passports are a must for visitors to San Francisco.

Only once did a cable car conductor scan my Clipper card. I spoke to one tourist who said she knew about the passport but was still happy to shell out the $6 for a single trip. I shudder to think how many single trip tickets she would have bought. I shudder to think how many single tickets I would have used.

Just noted mention in an earlier posts that the 'Novotel Brisbane Airport' was 400m form the terminal ....assume domestic ...... scaling it roughly off the BNE main runway on google earth surely its got to be well over 2 km from the dem. terminal more like nudging 3km ish ????? will check it out accurately next week.

Been a long time since I've been past, but I doubt it has moved any closer ;) it is a decent distance. From memory cabs used to be up to about $15 by the time you drove past.

Yes I am going to Brisbane on Monday and no I am not using that "airport hotel" in Brisbane.
Learning from a previous mistake is what makes us better travellers.
Last year I had a struggle to get the FF points from Hooroo and Novotel so I don't use either now.
I went to Las Vegas in summer and it was 120 degrees F. Wow avoid that one if you can.
We stayed in Hollywood when we were young and stupid. That Sheraton was a dump. It is better to stay close to the beach in Los Angeles and read hotel reviews that are not written by the hotel owners family.

Should have stayed a few more days in Brisbane this week rather then rushing back to the scorching Melbourne heat :(

Arriving in SIN a couple months ago, was chatting with a colleague and not paying attention, and we both exited the airport with our carry-on only (usually only travel with carry-on)!

Was then interesting trying to attempt to return to baggage claim for our luggage...

It is not close at all as I do this quite regularly with the T-Bus.

Domestic, international and then Novotel and vice versa. I am guessing at least 15-20 minute walk from international to Novotel.

I am hoping it won't turn out to be a travel mistake, but I booked a flight on FR this week as there was no reasonable alternative for the route

Booked accommodation that you are not able to cancel in order to save some $$.

What was a definately going turned into a definately not going due to work commitments.

As this has only just happened, I was a bit cunning and rang the hotel to cancel when Last Minute said no.
I will have to wait and see if my credit card shows a refund.

Treated myself to an F trip and only arrived in the Qantas F lounge 2 hours before the flight. Given they board 45 mins before departure and with a 30 minute spa treatment I barely had time to scoff down my 3-course meal with champagne and enjoy the lounge . Next time I'll be there a LOT earlier.

I've made a couple of decent errors. Back in the late 60's, very soon after marriage, the company I was with sent me overseas to the UK, Europe and the US for 6 weeks. I was too naive to ask if I could take my bride along. While I was away she smashed my car ( actually it was a drunk driver who ran into it). It was many years before we could do some Asian jaunts, but she died before we could get to the Northern Hemisphere.

Morel recently, I booked MEL - LAX and totally neglected the date line. A real new by error. It wasn't picked up until I checked in at the First check-in in MEL and a hurried overnight at LAX airport had to be arranged.

Flew them twice last weekend. While nothing special, they got me there and back and were on time.

Barossa Valley last week. 46 degrees. Next time I'll go in cooler weather

These are not my mistakes but they have disappointed me.

My darling No. 1 son wanted a break, so booked himself, his wife and baby son on a trip to Qld. Unfortunately, he booked to fly out of Perth on the very day that No. 2 son and his girlfriend flew in from Melbourne to surprise my husband. So No. 1’s wife has still to meet No. 2’s girlfriend and No. 2’s girlfriend hasn’t met No. 1’s son. Both of my sons were flying at the same time and courtesy of the QFF ”Bank of Mum”.

I thought that No. 1 son would have taken more care next time he booked to go anywhere. But NO!!!

My husband and I will be away on a cruise for March, having made the booking about a year ago. My No. 1 son has now booked to fly out of Perth on the 6am flight, the morning after my husband and I fly back to Perth just before midnight. So I won’t see my beloved grandson for 12 weeks. No. 1 son thought that I would be sure to be in Perth on my birthday, but I had decided that flying home from a fabulous holiday would be a great way to celebrate my birthday.

I investigated bringing forward our return flight by a day, but all the FF seats are now gone.

I guessed that wrong ...... Novotel Brisbane Airport is further away than I thought ......
BNE Domestic terminal to the Novotel Bris Airport is 5.7 km !
BNE International terminal to the Novotel Bris Airport is 3.3 km .......

Thanks Clivem for the walking distance for the Novotel Brisbane Airport from the domestic Brisbane Airport.
I stayed at Gloria Hotel instead which is near our office warehouse seeing we are based to the south of Brisbane.
