Made any travel mistakes lately?

You could still use the waist bum bag if you have more than a source or place to keep money, inside shoes, or use clear glue to glue extra hold points to the bum bag.
Maybe if decided to use neck strap, also use glue gun to glue extra hold points to it.
Pity its still warm when you go, as its harder for itchy hand to get through jackets, apart from them using small knives to cut pockets.
Maybe also have Auspost cash passport (mastercard) standalone card in case p** hits the fan, so to speak.
Keep watching Youtube scams tho.
Thanks @AustraliaPoochie
All tips greatly appreciated- guess my TR title should be " plan for the worst and hope for the best!"

Heh, lets learn "self defense/defence" mode.
Have a screaming fit and act nutso!
Act crazy and talk to yourself.
An imaginary friend, if you wish.
Walk weird.
Learn the local word for thief/robbery/not allowed.
Would it work, no?
Would it cause a scene, yes.
Would it help to stop it, no.
Would the culprit learn a lesson, yes, likely so.
They see tourists as an easy mug.

Got an upgrade to J for me and her from Sydney to Auckland on QF3.

That’s the good part, left my ipad on the table in the lounge after having breakfast, sigh…….

I received a call from a private number which I would normally ignore, but listened to message saying they had it at the reception desk. All good, but the walk back to the lounge was from gate 60, again makes me realise just how unfit I am.

Thankfully got it and back to the plane……..

I almost made a doozy a week ago. Due to fly on Qantas to Denpasar. Was in the MelbF lounge and on the ticker board saw the flight to Denpasar left at gate 13a from memory. Scurried along and almost ready to board when we heard an announcement for immediate boarding at gate 11a for Denpasar. Hmmm. He ran back to gate 11, I ran to the checkin. We were at the Jetstar gate not the Qantas one. My bad.

But seriously, whose idea is it to have two flights Jetstar and Qantas, departing for Denpasar at exactly the same time. So they both appear on the Clicker board in the lounge. One after the other. I had seen Jetstar and just presumed it was code share. For the record, there were several of us doing the last minute run. And all having coming from the lounge.

Hmmm... might not twig in the moment, but is there ever a JQ codeshare on QF metal? I know the other way around there would be...

Likely not at all 😂 but this was just after the kerfuffle in Adelaide when they took us off the plane. Not in a clear thinking place. But of course, now, it was a brain fade.

And then it went pear shaped @Pushka ?

Apparently trusting Luxury Escapes to organise a transfer that is included in the package is too much to ask. I've called multiple times and each time was told I would be sent details. Nothing. So I lodged a case via their website, and got a "case resolved" email but still no details 🤦‍♀️
I have not had any good experiences with Luxury Escapes at all - they are great at marketing, but not very good at delivering what they promised, in my experience.

Having a waterproof bag with us... but not on us. Got caught in a big downpour and everything soaked through (umbrella didn't help much!). Wallet soaked through and most of our USD has running dye on the notes. How can genuine notes be so poorly made? These ones were out of ATMs in the US. The ones we got in Cambodia today were the same, bank ran them through a check machine so also seem genuine and not fake (which we have heard is a problem here).

It is why the polymer notes are so great, get wet no problem, accidently go through washer and dryer no problem. The world really should get on board with adopting them if they are going to insist on still using cash.

Agree. I just hope we don't have any issue getting rid of them as we had only just made a big withdrawal.

We've never had any issues with any of our escapes, nor did I have a problem getting a refund when covid scuttled our plans. Getting the transfer sorted took some effort but they came good.

We've had a good run with Luxury Escapes, having used them several times on domestic and international trips. Thankfully, we have never had any issues that we had to follow up with them. We had to change dates on a recent booking to Samoa, which we did without any problems via the Luxury Escapes website.

With somethings I guess you are at the mercy of the resort or hotel who is supposed to provide things, like the transfers.

I’ll add that we have also only had good results with LE, happy to recommend.

Husband left today to go on his jaunt to London and Denmark
Made sure he had his good walking stick (base and bits ) . Of course he took the wrong one from the car (always has one in my car )
Mmm actually thinking about that , I wonder if that means he will be going to James Smith and Sons ??? He really doesn't need any more walking sticks ....he loves going to that store ever since his health necessitated the need for walking sticks

For our package the transfer was organised by a TA associated with LE, but for some reason they hadn't contacted us.

An update, have been to several shops and banks today - no one will take them. So that's $500 down the drain potentially unless anyone can suggest any creative ideas for getting rid of them / swapping them.

Maybe save them and try in another country later?

I'm not a fan of using cash, but when it is needed prefer to withdraw small amounts in local currency, and use it quickly. Never liked that some places only want pristine notes, nothing about the way cash is handled leaves them perfect after first use.
