Made any travel mistakes lately?

I flew in on QF8 from Los Angeles this morning and arrived about 6:30am, more or less on schedule. I have a separate reward flight with Qantas leaving at 2 pm - about a seven hour, jet lagged wait. 😡🙄

Why did I do that? Was I so desperate to get a Qantas reward seat that I adopted stupid timing or was I so afraid of Qantas being late that I gave myself an overly big buffer? I can’t recall but a dumb mistake.

So while waiting for my bags, I noticed Virgin had a business reward seat leaving at 10 am so I jumped on that and cancelled the Qantas. The weather is bad in Sydney this morning so hopefully the flight will be okay and I don’t have a second mistake for the same day.
When you say cancelled reward ticket on QF, I thought if it was less than 24 hours before flight, you forfeited it.

And...welcome home your TR was great.

You can cancel most QFF award bookings up until the scheduled departure time of the first flight in the booking at a cost of 6000 points per PAX.

That's what happened..

Had you gone to the transfer desk I wonder if they would accomodate an earlier flight?

I checked and there were no J seats on the direct flights and only a couple on flights after lunch via MEL. 10am departure on VA was perfect timing.

Last night we flew on QF655 from Sydney to Perth. There was a broken seat next to me so no one there. Next all we got on our headsets was static so no point watching the movie. I was number six in meal selection so they had run out of my choice so no lamb shanks.
I would have loved to welcome the board of directors of Qantas on this flight which was a 737-800 evening flight. Qantas need to hear what a rubbish and unsuitable plane we travelled on over almost five hours.
The WiFi worked.

🤣🤣🤣 the Board members would have insisted on an A330 and on travelling during the day time with pre-ordered Chairman's lounge meals. They are clearly out of touch with reality and get paid massive salaries and bonuses for doing such a good job - according to the KPI's they set themselves - which must not include any reference to customer satisfaction. Our so called national carrier - a total disgrace.

I don't think board members get "salaries", too gauche a term for them.

Non-executive directors absolutely are paid fees for sitting on the board. At Qantas, they're paid close to $3 million.

Correct. But not salaries or bonuses. And I could be wrong but Im doubtful there are any “airline performance” criteria attached to their payments

Unfortunately this is going to happen more and more with the introduction of the A321XLR etc.!

We won’t do DPS as we lost two we knew in the Bali bombing. No need for us to fly there ever.
We are going to London so just getting some shoes waterproofed.
We had some snow overnight and a little bit forecast for the next week too, so bring your woolies and some sturdy shoes!
