Ok story short I bought two tickets on the 23rd of May 2022 for a total amount of $2850+
We specifically paid for Flexi tickets hence ended up paying quite a bit for our economy tickets. (Flexi tickets allow FULL REFUND)

Unfortunately due to unforeseen last min changes we have to cancel our ticket an hour after purchasing the tickets.

There is no refund button on the manage booking so I had to get ahold to their support line and the lady told me the refund will be processed but will take like 1 month before I will receive my refund.

I find this to be unacceptable but I keep my patience and wait, until today I still haven't received my refund, I called again last week and the other staff told me it will take 1 to 3 months and the website even mention it might take up to 6 months.

I am starting to worry if they will refund me at all? I used my AMEX to purchased those tickets and AMEX told me I have 60 days to dispute the charge.

Should I gamble and wait for Malaysia Airlines to refund me that is if they refund me at all or should I dispute the charge (Chargeback) with AMEX?

Any advice?

I don’t have MH experience but I’d set a reminder for, say 55 days, and dispute the charge if no refund received by then

I would dispute at 55 days too. I bet the card company will take a bite for their trouble, and MH will not be saving money. As Amex set 60 days, that is their test for their standard, and there is probably a good reason for that timing, like Europe. You relied on those terms. ACCC or whoever should look into that practice . In the US, it is your legal right to cancel in 24 hours. Refunds are part of the business, not a means to stretch cash flow difficulties.
