Just an update for those about to register. The immigratiom counters at KLIA to finalise the autogate registerimg for the 1st time are counters 53 & 54. These have biometric readers to complete the registration. I was asked to show my online registration (I did from my phone). The details on it cross checked to my passport, then instructed to placed my index fingers for the biometric read. After a few keystokes on their screen, my passport was returned and I was directed to use the autogate. All done in a few minutes. Easy peasy.
Ok, that is different from last year where you were not able to use the autogate on arrival with your first visit doing this.

@QFFHntrGthr , were there any queues for counters 53 or 54?

9 days ago, I was ablie to sign up and use autogate immediately...however, despite multiple attempts to register, +1 was unable to be registered (? fingerprint issue) and had to be processed manually. :(

No such joy for Penang. When I entered 2 weeks ago, it took 40 mins to manually process about 20 people in the queue due to the fasting season. I was able to exit via the auto gates at KLIA so the MDAC registration must’ve worked

Have recently travelled through Kuala Lumpur T1 and seems like they have updated their e-gate processes.
Major changes - no need to manually register at an immigration counter on first arrival.
(However this is not reflected on their website)

Complete MDAC, walk straight up to the e-gates on arrival and through within 10 secs!

Sorry serfty for this delayed response. The updates by others will hopefully have answered any questions you.might have. I don't come round here much as my life situation has changed and we were not able to travel from 2018 until this Feb when my partner passed and I was able to resume travelling.
The simpler life means less interactions sought. Apologies once again for not responding when asked.

A timely response. I went through KLIA yesterday with someone who was right on the border of 120cm and it was no dramas. Such a great immigration experience. 10 seconds done and dusted. Contrast that to the moronic Australian system.......

It says in the blurb that you need to fill in the data 3 days before arrival. What happens if it's a last minute booking to travel to KUL?

I think this could well be poor translation or intention. They've got big screens up in KLIA with the QR Code for the MDAC application: feels like they expect a load of folk to fill it in as they land.

I treat it much like I do a submission for a Visit Pass in Singapore and fill it out 2/3 days ahead of going. (Can confirm no issues when I filled one out just under 48 hours from travelling)

It just has to be completed within 3 days of travel - like SGAC. Can be completed prior to the e-gates and there are QR codes and computers before passport control to complete MDAC

Just adding I have also done it <3 days and it's "within 3 days" not "3 days or more before arrival", and if I recall right you can't add an arrival date on the MDAC more than 3 days away anyway.

Not sure which blurb you're looking at, but if you are booking last minute, just do it then. You can do it anytime within three days of travel.

Is this of any benefit if you are transiting KUL, on MH international to MH international and both arrival and departure flights are in the same terminal?
Or do you not need to enter the country on an I-I transit?

MH International to International does not require you to enter the country so just head to your connecting flight when you get in - assuming you have BP for connecting flight.

@Kangol , with the one caveat that your transit does not involve moving between KLIA1 & KLIA2.

That can only be done landside which means clearing customs and immigration.
