*(Using the 330 widebody configs against 727 seats equals x2/2.5 weekly), and it's unlikely they'll be sending the 3-class A350s to BNE.

Proposed starting month of Sept 24. It will be up there with one of the longest 737 flights in the world should this proceed.

10% longer than the oft-complained about VA CNS-HND route (at least oft-complained about on the AFF thread)

Flatbeds are needed for flights like this! I wouldn't say no if it was an SQ 737-8 where there are flatbeds in business but a recliner on the MH 737-8? No, thank you!
 
I've complained about the Virgin product in J. It's terrible and I don't think there is much difference/ improvement on any other airline due to the hard product.

It's not that bad, but not for flights of more than 3 hours.
 
Looks like they're planning to use a MAX on the ICN-KUL overnight sector.

 
There's probably a sizeable number of Malaysians in BNE (including international students) that won't care too much except to have the service back, longhaul aircraft be damned or not. If in Y, the difference is minimal anyway (though I find the 737 seats a bit harder than the A330 seats in Y, but that's more pronounced because I am fat).

That said, SQ has been a consistently reliable alternative; not sure about how competitive on cost they would be.

That said, SQ has been a consistently reliable alternative; not sure about how competitive on cost they would be.
Whilst the seats might be the same, I find the biggest issue with narrow body flights is the 160 economy passengers having one aisle to get to the lavs at the back of the aircraft. I’d hate to be sitting in the last 3-4 rows of economy on any flight longer than 2 hours in a narrow body. There is a constant queue backing up for the toilets, whilst also juggling trying to get flight attendants and carts in/out.

Yes, I was going to post something similar. Not every service is geared to business class, and even in economy there is a whole world of people out there who aren't anywhere near as precious as most of us in the AFF or other frequent flyer communities.

If you look whats happening transatlantic, we're going to see more, not fewer, narrow body medium haul flights.

Interestingly 727 doesn't divide evenly into any numbers up to 7 (except 1 obviously). Wonder why they have been allocated this specific number of seats? If they were going for 4x weekly 737-8 MAX that would be 696 seats...

On top of that, it also benefits those with domestic Malaysia connections, unless your final destination is KUL, PEN, BKI, KCH or MYY. Booking MH would allow them to have connection convenience and potentially savings (cf. separate tickets).

As someone who does MYS/AUS regularly - I assure you that a very large, and growing number of Malaysians will do whatever it takes to avoid MH.

Similarly, a large number of Australians will do whatever it takes to avoid MH, for whatever reasons they may have.

Now add the anti-MAX crowd into the mix..... and a MAX is about all MH might fill.

Sounds a bit like Australians and Qantas. The only difference I suppose is how the hell is MH actually still alive (a question oft asked in the last 20 years), but here we are.

There must be enough of them to think MH have a case for restarting BNE; just not enough to think MH should put on a widebody.

Let's not forget that BNE Airport will soak up any opportunity to go, "hey look at us - we got another route!" Airports have even less insightful thought like we do compared to airlines.
