Malta

Yeah photo was just a copy. If your on Instagram look up ashcoops1 Feel free to peruse my profile links on Gozo, SQ flight etc. I dont mind sharing :)

- stayed at Palais le Brun, renovated beautifully and a pool :)
- bought the Heritage Malta Multisite pass and visited a heap of museums (paid for itself!)
- used public transport mainly

Just listing some of the highlights, and what I consider impressive and must dos (left off the ok's)
- Upper and Lower Barakka - amazingly renovated heritage and views !
- Walked most of the Valetta streets, so much architecture, colorful windows and doors
- A DEFINITE MUST is the Grandmaster Palace Courtyard - most amazing museum I have ever seen, think 7500 piece display of original medieval armor, swords and crossbows. circa 16th century St John etc!
- Silent City of Mdina and St Pauls Catacombs
- Fort St Elmo and St Angelo
- the numerous yacht berths (think Below Deck Med!)
- walked from Sliema to St Georges bay along the walkways
- tripped across the Valetta waterways in a small boat for 2EUR!
- as I said in previous post Embassy Hotel Rooftop Bar (we seek these in every city)
- Maritime museum (albeit its closed and they have an alternative on-site)
- Underground Malta tour
- Dwerja Bay Gozo
- Blue Lagoon on Comino Island - beautiful island and water (move well past the hordes!)
- Victoria, Gozo and the citadel ruins
- about 5 of the 46 Gozo churches
- * missed the salt pans !!! send a pic if you get there

Was posting several photos, but then thought I was hijacking this thread (should do own TR!), so will leave you with one of Comino Island looking back to the Blue Lagoon and Gozo in distance

Thanks a few things that I haven't seen mention before.

I always love a rooftop bar especially if they do good coughtails

@Princess Fiona has been there fairly recently.

Walking around Valetta is easy and rewarding. You've see my Trip Report and especially 'Sunday in Scotland' chocolate shop. That's all you are really going for, isn't it? :)

A boat tour around Valetta Harbour.

The 'hop-on-hop-off' bus that takes you around the major sights of the main island. Needs booking but pretty simple IIRC.

I would have loved to visit Gozo (check out how to pronounce it correctly!) to visit the neolithic Ggantija Temples there.
I was rereading your TR last night and found this comment I had made and I had forgotten all about that show

So I've just been to a fringe show that was a lot about Malta

I learnt the Maltese for cough was zobb and that Oliver Reed died at the pub in Valetta - see from Wikipedia below

According to witnesses, he drank eight pints of German lager, a dozen shots of rum, half a bottle of whiskey and a few shots of Hennessy cognac,[52] in a drinking match against a group of sailors on shore leave from HMS coughberland at a local pub called "The Pub". His bar bill totalled a little over 270 Maltese lira (almost 450 GBP; about 594.72 USD). After beating five much younger Royal Navy sailors at arm-wrestling, Reed suddenly collapsed, dying while en route to hospital in an ambulance. He was 61 years old.

Oh and they gave everyone a glass of Coopers beer when you came in and then a tiny tot of rum and the rum was cough

I can pop over a dump of our itinerary (and secret parking spots!) if that's of use.

Gloves, VPS, gloves! ;)

A few spots worth checking out..... in no particular order. I had a good viewing spot up at a public park for the cannons firing etc., but for some reason can't find the exact spot we went up to.
On Gozo...
This isn't an exhaustive list..... but there's plenty more. It all depends on how much time you have.
Ditto all of the above - Malta punches way above its weight.
Add Lot 61coffee in Valletta (excellent)
