Just noticed that the article refers to a launch date of 25 June... Has it been pushed back?
I suspect that’s the one that Mark McGowan will be on. We’re booked 23JUN FCO-PER.Just noticed that the article refers to a launch date of 25 June... Has it been pushed back?

And we’re sitting in our hotel in Rome waiting for it to land and be a part of the first leg home to Perth…Inaugural QF5 is on its way from SYD to PER then onwards to FCO and is operated by VH-ZNF...
According to:No, it hasn't. Whoever wrote that press release got the date wrong.
A promotional Qantas "Points Plane" will test out the route on Wednesday, June 22 before the official start of services on Saturday, June 25.
To commemorate the launch of the inaugural service, Western Australia's Premier, Mark McGowan, will join Qantas representatives on-board the Qantas QF5 Boeing 787-9 when it leaves Perth on Saturday.
ZNF - F is for first flight, for first leg and for FCO...And we’re sitting in our hotel in Rome waiting for it to land and be a part of the first leg home to Perth…
I am just hoping that the wearing of face masks message gets thru, as the press release on that matter only referred to the incoming flight to FCO. Being picky I know, but who knows with QF?ZNF - F is for first flight, for first leg and for FCO...
Face masks to FCO are not required. Face masks coming back to Australia are.I am just hoping that the wearing of face masks message gets thru, as the press release on that matter only referred to the incoming flight to FCO. Being picky I know, but who knows with QF?

Here it is:That's just marketing spin from Qantas.
Agree on the spin. On landing we were all (so I believe) handed a certificate half A4 sized, which read 'Qantas Rome Perth Points Plane Flight'. I asked what that meant exactly, and was told that every passenger on the flight was booked on points, which I found hard to beleive. At least 1 last minute passenger was a QF staff member, for they whom they managed to stuff up the seating arrangements for the front 2 rows of PE seats LHS. It was eventually sorted out, and during the flight, as has been stated a number of times on diffrent threads, that staff member was constantly attended to by the cabin crew. That's just marketing spin from Qantas. The first flight is today.

First timer on the 787, and whilst the flight was as smooth as silk, I found the electrics in the PE seats to be next to useless. The remote was quite small at around 8mm, and was fixed on the inside of the arm rest at seat level, so it was quite difficult to see what buttons were for; the headset three pin plug, and it's power point were black, and the plug was also located low down on the side of the seat. It was so dark we needed to stuff an iPhone down there with the light on to plug it in; the folding tray table was only connected at one side, wasn't long enough to rest on the opposite armrest, and wobbled somewhat when the meal platter was delivered. With a glass of water along with a glass of wine sitting there, things were a little hairy. Finally, we landed on the shorter cross runway at PER which I thought would have been a bit short for such an aircraft, but things were OK and the fact that the aircraft was almost at T3 made the taxi very short.
Where on earth would they find Italian language speakers in Sydney to roster for the flight?I'm interested to know if any of the cabin crew were Italian language speakers?
They may be crew based in PER or MEL...Where on earth would they find Italian language speakers in Sydney to roster for the flight?
