The people you meet at rallies, a Baron no less, his uncle had a lot to do with Broome a few years ago, we talked a bit about Broome (my mother was born there) and his car. Wished him luck then off to look at other cars and chat.

I was told what sort of dog this is, forgotten, so I will have chase it up. The breed is originally from Africa and he is 12 years old.

A Sapphire, they competed at the Midnight Sun Rally in Karlskoga, Sweden last weekend in a Porsche, nice to be able to do that. :) Italian plated but the driver and codriver are Swedish.

Thank you, that sounds very familiar to what they said. Interesting that they don’t bark, when I saw him the first thing that came to mind was a Dingo.

It was warm in Austria and as I’m not “match fit” it was an effort, especially carrying a cold, I’m convinced it’s man flu, and I’m very ill……. :)
Few more photos. An electric thingy I could live with, bee house and in the Czech Rep. a place to put your old ewaste including cables and what not.
You can take ewaste to the tip in Canberra, but they will only take TVs, intact computers and screens which is so wasteful.

Rally complete, good to catchup with friends. Austria, like Germany is closed on Sundays, apart from it seems, petrol stations.
Headed north up into the Czech Rep. Crossed the border to this, car park was full of Austrian registered cars. Had a quick look, not much to interest me, the aircraft restaurant was closed.

In German ‘stau’, traffic jam, we were stopped for about 1/2 hour, this was on the ring road around Prague.
Small village on the Czech/German border, coming from an island, it still fascinates me that you could live right on the border with another country. Wonder what it was like here 30 years ago, armed guards, dogs, barbed wire? I know the old DDR border had all these and more, but this was in the former West Germany.

Quite a change from last time, I have not seen one Russian or Belarusian registered truck or car. Quite a few Ukrainian vehicles of course.

love the bee hotel.

Bunnings in SA take all ewaste

Enjoying the TR and the photos. However the plane restaurant in that park is bugging me. At first I thought it was a VC10 but given its location I suppose an IL62 is more likely.

Onwards towards Eifel, staying at Bremm on the Moselle River. I think half of the oaps from Holland must be here. Dutch number plates in abundance.

Nice hotel, no view from the room, but for dinner the terrace was very pleasant.

I’ve got no idea how they manage these vines and the terroir is looking rough, it’s been dry and hot.

A lot of Dutch and Belgian number plates. It seems I was lucky to get a room here. On to Daun, it’s a UNESCO area, and is always busy, even more so when the rallye festival is on. I stayed in the same hotel as 3 years ago, a few kms south of Daun. Significant price increase.
I had booked a room through Qantas/airbnb, it was within walking distance from town, all good, then got a message from the “host“ that it was in fact unavailable, not happy. First and probably last time I will use airbnb.
Caught up with friends, picked up some Toyota parts for a car in NZ, wandered around in awe of all the great vehicles here on display, Snooks Motorsport were here again running their Datsun 710 Violet. Homepage - Snooks Motorsport

The guy with the red Celica t-shirt is a former engine builder for Toyota Team Europe, his Celica is a genuine ex works group b car. When he retired he was given a F1 engine from the Toyota Panasonic team.

The area is popular with walkers and cyclists, these 3 had just finished dinner and were off up the hill, sleeping out or if necessary under a tarp. No problems we have much alcohol, they seemed to have had a lot with dinner as well!
