Hello!

I've just booked a flight on QF's website that includes one sector on a non codeshare AA flight (LHR to LAX).

Is there a simple way to find out my AA PNR, so I can go and choose a seat? It's a 12 hour flight, so I'd quite like to ensure I don't have a middle seat, that would be no good.

I've tried looking up the QF PNR on Finnair, which I thought did something clever like that last time, but no luck. I don't see it in my electronic ticket. Do I have to ring QF customer service and bother them, or is there a simpler way?

...and the answer is:

* Visit ba.com and use "Manage my booking". Use your Qantas PNR and surname.
* Choose your AA flight
* Click "Choose Seat"
* Your flights will appear, with your QF seats already visible. Your AA flight will have a "Choose seats" link.
* That page will show you both the "BA booking reference", which is actually your Qantas one, and the "American booking reference". It's this one you should plug into the American Airlines website.

There, that was easy.

An alternative method is to go on the AA App and enter your QF 081 ticket number.
It will then populate with your AA booking.

This is indeed the most painless way to get the code.

Also I'd save it next to the normal PNR somewhere so there's no need to do it again. I just emailed myself from the same e-ticket email.

The App route is super easy.
Yes, I always use the app when ever I fly AA (that reassuring “Your bags are loaded” function is great).

Muscle memory just has me copy and pasting the QF PNR into BA.com and then copy and pasting into AA app…😳.

Next time…

I have a few AA flight’s coming up, I rang AA and they gave me the booking numbers, took a couple of minutes and they were super friendly and helpful

Thanks all ! This is all so super informative.

Does anyone know a similar hack for AS and UA (rather than AA) ?

I redeemed QFF points for LAX / NWR (return) and got put on these airlines.

Not sure about UA but how was the AS flight(s) booked?

AS flight was booked by award redemption as part of a longer SYD to NWR flight i.e. SYD to LAX on QF, then LAX to NWR on AS (all on points).
Did you try entering the QF e-Ticket number in the AS website Manage Booking? I think that works and will bring up the AS booking reference (as well as let you select seats).

Otherwise, try the usual hacks using the QF PNR:

1. ba.com, the go to seat selection. It might have a link to take you to alaskaair.com but note it then might have the AS PNR displayed near the link.

2. rj.com - this should work for seat selection, but probably won’t have the AS PNR.

3. MH should also allow seat selection and possibly bring up the AS PNR.

The AA App is especially handy for giving you gate and connecting gate information.
When connecting tells you the length and time of transfer.

A phone call to QF also works to get the AA PNR, if you are up to the wait time

Thanks all. I ended up calling 13 13 13.

Call duration (including wait time) was 13 minutes.

PNRs obtained.

I am starting to get worried my QF booking on AA hasn't been processed correctly.

I've tried my QF booking number AND the 081 number on the AA website and App and it says "flights cannot be found".

I went to BA and it did find my flights, but even though I'm travelling business class the BA "Manage my bookings" pages says "seats available at check in".

I assume I have to call AA on this one.

If booked through QF, you should call them first and as per the other thread, get rebooked on an earlier connection.

Is a CR or revenue ticket?
