Mapping our Anzacs is an interactive map where you can choose a town and see the service records of WW1 personnel who were born/enlisted in that town. You can add photos and comments to entries.

karens,
Thank you so much for posting this ,I had no idea that this was available, all of my ancestors were born in the UK so I wouldn't find any relatives on the list but I still find it absolutely fascinating to read the details of the 117 young men who enlisted from the town where I currently live, and lets not forget that these were young men who had their whole lives in front of them but they went away to fight a war on the other side of the world, and many never returned,as Australians we owe an enormous debt to these men and I am very grateful that the
National Archives has made this information available and thanks again karens for posting the details.
Cheers

Absolutely fabulous.
I was born in Ballina NSW. and found details of my great uncle. A total of 254 men who were born there enlisted, which in 1914 would have just about been every able bodied male.

LEST WE FORGET

The interweb is a bit slow for me down the @rse end of NZ (and time limited) but the site sounds v interesting - thanks for posting karens, will check it out when back home.

Thanks karens, this site has got a wealth of information in it for several members of my family, a lot of which we were not aware of. Fascinating reading.
