I used to be a gold Marriott a while ago when I travelled to the US for work regularly. Now, I am a lowly silver. I do have a booking in NYC though in May for 28 nights. I used Marriotts then as all my collegues already did. And, every year I could then use the points for a few days indulgence at the SYD Harbour Marriott.

Anyway, I got a BRG on my Marriott May bkg due to a very knowledgeable kind AFF who guided me though the process. So, the hotel in NYC ended up being 50% off the rate and the tax for the whole stay.

Now this week, I have just rec'd an email from Marriott comping me gold status. Of course, just my luck that the place I have booked does not have the benefit of having a guest lounge. But, it will afford me extra reward points.

I know there are a few life platinum members on AFF, so does anyone have any advice on other ways to max gold perks?
