How would I book using the codeshare number?

I can book through aa.com is this what you mean? And the fare is a first class fare so I am guessing that it will earn the same status credits as published on the Qantas table?

Also.. When you do book with AA how long does it take after the flight completion to receive the credit for it on your Qantas account?
Simply book through AA.com (check the effective price with that on the Australian AA portal, it may be less.

If you have an AA flight number (your AA e-ticket receipt shows something like) you will be fine:
Code:
[IMG]http://images.appriss.com/amair/carrierlogos/AA.gif[/IMG] | 6772 |
         |---------------------------------------------
         | OPERATED BY ALASKA AIRLINES
         | CHECK-IN WITH OPERATING CARRIER
         | ...
Posting takes 2 - 4 days (DO keep you AS BP's), and your original e-ticket from AA until the points/SC's do post.

Thank you for your help!

Another question... If you are on a connecting flight do you get the status credits for both flights or do they treat it differently? Also, if you have a first class ticket and there is no first class on one flight do you still receive the status credits for that flight? It seems that the ticket is available but the seating on a Dash 8 doesn't show any first class..

Yet another question..

When booking with AA do I not login to my AA account? Is there somewhere to input my Qantas number or is this done later? I am guessing that I don't want my AA number on the ticket in order to claim Qantas credit?

It all depends on the booking class and carrier for each booked segment.

Generally when a First Class booking, such connecting flights book into Y class and earn FULL WHY SC's, but not always.

As ever you need to check. At least booking via AA you can see the actual booking class before proceeding.

You will have the opportunity to enter your QFF (or AA) number during the later stages of the booking process.

Note that it still helps to get an AAdvantage account (this is free) as once you open a booking when logged in, the booking gets an underlying link to the AA number (it wont post or credit to AA) and it's easier to retrieve.

Ok so I have it worked out that all of the flights are AA flight numbers and all have a first class ticket.. Still wondering a couple of things, sorry to be a pain.

You recommend booking using my AA account? I thought if I did this the miles would go straight to AA? I'm worried I will mess this up, it's the first time I've tried it!

Also the trip has 5 flights but two are connecting with others.. When I put it into mileage monkey I get X number of status credits for the trip.. So it looks like each flight gets it's own credit. Does this make sense?

Thanks again for any help!

If you're concerned, I wouldn't worry about linking the booking to your AA account - it's only to make retrieving the booking slightly easier, so it's no big deal if you don't.

It certainly does - and that's the trick to how you earn loads of SCs for relatively little ;)

I have booked it all in but it seems too good to be true! So I have AA flight numbers though the flights are operated by Alaska. On the Qantas Airline Earning Table should I be looking for rewards under AA or AS? I sure hope its AA!

The flight number is your guide to earnings.

If it's an AA flight number then you earn as for AA. (note some oneworld airline earnings in the table have disclaimers about codeshares operated by non oneworld carriers. AA have none).

Note you check in at Alaska check-in counters and your Boarding pass will have only the AS flight number. Do not fear - my experience is there post as AA flights in about 3 days.

Also note, if your booking class shows as F (not P or A), you have access to any Alaska Boardroom lounge before your flight.

On the connecting fligt question...

With US/UA/CO at least as long as there is a change of flight number you will receive separate credit for each segment.

Beware the AAA-BBB-CCC flights that retain the same flight number!!!;)

Wonderful, thank you for easing my concerns! I didn't know that the F ticket gave access to the Boardroom so thats a bonus :)

I'm not sure what a fare bucket is but on my itinerary on AA it has first then below that it says F so I'm assuming that it will be okay.
