Maximising status credits PER-LHR-SYD

Hey everyone

Does anybody have any suggestions for the travel route on the above itinerary that will maximise my status credits, but not maximise the cost too.

I am thinking something like PER-BKK-SIN-LHR then maybe returning at BNE or MEL before flying on to SYD.

I am wanting to fly with Oneworld, being a QFF member.

Also, if I was to book oneworld flights (ie non-QF, but oneworld) online using a specific oneworld airline's site, does the airline attach my QFF number to my booking if I call them up after I make the booking, or do these flights have to be booked using a TA to ensure QFF points are earned?

Not sure if allowed (depends on fare conditions) but something like PER-DRW-SIN-BKK-HKG-LHR?

Have you considered RTW to get even more SCs (likely to be more expensive than simple PER-LON return, but earns much more SCs and points)?

There aren't any oneworld airlines that fly PER-BKK. Realistically, you're unlikely to find any cheap fares that allow multiple stops in Asia. You could consider flying through HKG or NRT rather than SIN, and then try for multiple stops in Europe.

Or as Kiwi Flyer suggested, it's far easier to maximise SCs with a RTW ticket.

Daniel, I used Finnair's web site to book SIN-BKK-SIN in May and when making the booking online you are asked whether you belong to a one worlf FF program. I provided my QFF number when making the booking and whilst brwosing my ff account through Qantas web site I could see the finnair booking. When my boarding passes were issued in Singapore and Bangkok respectively my QFF number appeared on there without a problem.

Perhaps you need to change the order of destinations so that you can validly do it:

PER BA SIN AY BKK QF/BA LHR BA/QF BNE QF MEL

On the LHR/BNE sector you could route via HKG. You'll just have to also be mindful of any stopover rules on the fare class you are looking to buy (i.e. does it allow two stopovers on the way to LHR, or do you delete HKG and go up via either SIN or BKK and back via the other one).

If you book them via any of the OW web sites, you should be able to input your FF number - if not, then a call to the relevant airline here in Australia will allow you to have it shown.

Using a TA here in Australia (like Flight Centre) should mean that they will undercut the fares shown on the web sites. Any saving is a good saving - and they should ensure your FF number is shown in the booking.

Lindsay, I'll take your advice about using TAs. Any saving is definitely a good saving, especially with these fuel surcharges nowadays!!

Kiwiflyer, yes have thought about RTW as it is definitely the best way to obtain status at a reasonably affordable rate. However my present circumstances (full-time worker and post-grad student) will not allow me enough time to actually utilise the fare to the max at present. :cry:

Any saving is definitely a good saving, especially with these fuel surcharges nowadays!!

Bear in mind also, the more creative the routing the more fuel surcharges that will apply. You should factor this into the equation as well. Eg. PER-LHR on QF 15, then LHR-SYD on QF32 or QF2 will cost $120 in fuel surcharges. PER-SIN-BKK-LHR-HKG-BNE-SYD could cost $320 in fuel surcharges (maybe less depending on what is charged on SIN-BKK sector).

You dont have to maximise a RTW to get good value out of them. But I agree if your routing fairly simple out and back then should be able to get cheaper regular type of fare - albeit with less flexibility to add sectors or on routing.
