Re: May day QF32 channel 9

A journalist discussing the consequences of system failure on the 380?

Could they not do better?

Oh god this is rubbish, I'm only watching in the INXS breaks!!!!

Anyone notice all the throttle shots are of a twin not a quad? Gather it's A320 footage?

More than 50% of this goes on a tangent about other historical events.

Wasn't expecting much anyway, but this is cringe-worthy!

Wonder if the actual ACI episode is the same minus the Aussie narrator?

Absolutely. Good old Ch9. Surely there'd be an aeronautical engineer somewhere...

The 4 Corners episode a few years ago was much better...

The Air new Zealand 320 could really have been AF 447 circumstances. The ANZ flight (aircraft) was performing a procedure 10000 ft below where it should have been.

So we are back to 4 thrust leavers on the last bit before the break, I know I should just stick with Ch7 ads, but I feel I need to watch how bad this is!!!

Yep, pretty much everything from 4 corners, which is rather funny it's being broadcast on 9.

I actually re-watched the 4 corners version a few weeks back, it was very well put together

It's aircrash investigation for dummies. Only surprised how channel 9 didn't manage to get Karl Stefanovich somehow connected to it.

Mayday Mayday - Terror on QF32 (channel nine link)
"Peter Overton presents a special investigation ..."

They can't be serious. This was a total mishmash of 3rd party material. Isn't plagiarism against journalistic ethics ! Overton does describe himself as a journalist.

And there was far more coverage of the almost totally irrelevant failures on the ANZ A320 and the UA DC10.

Possibly the worst aviation program I've ever seen. They should have a special investigation into the aviation disaster that was this program.

And as this series goes worldwide the world will be reminded that Qantas planes are no longer as safe as they thought AND that Australia makes utter cough TV about serious subjects.

What I will still be surprised about tomorrow, is someone at the office will say they saw this program last night about a QANTAS plane as if it was a new story.

Channel 9 - TV for the lowest common denominator.

Okay they've just spent 15 mins talking about the NZ A320 crash now we've moved on to the DC-10 crash of flight UA232 in Sioux City.

They've actually spent bugger all time on QF32 apart from a recap of the same stuff they've already told use in between talking about other crashes that aren't terribly relevant to what happened on QF32.

They should rename the program 'Mayday, Terror on Channel 9' as they poorly attempt to copy what our friends at Air Crash Investigation do so well on the Nat Geo Channel.

Mega yawn.

Four Corners was well done but looking forward to the proper ACI episode on QF32 in the latest series.

I was looking forward to this doco as we were on that plane less than a week before on the way to LA and were caught up in the mayhem of all the cancelled A380 flights to get back home. But it was very disappointing.

While I can live with Air Crash Investigations....

By far the best TV series Survival in the Sky - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia which screened here as Black Box and had zero idiotic recreations or repeat comments to fill time.

Miles ahead of Air Crash Investigations and decades ahead of Channel 9.

Watched it and was really disappointed, hardly any actual content, though the previous two incidents they flashed back to were interesting in their own right. I wonder if they managed to fit them into an hour-long program instead of the 15 minutes allocated in the program within a program :p
