Want to ask any recent traveler on SQ 218 about meal service... what are the better options? Have supper? Or sleep first then eat after wake up? Do they do full meal service at all? Will BTC make any difference? TIA

In June I flew BNE - SIN in J and was asked if I wanted meal service shortly after take off or before arrival which I chose as I wanted to get to sleep ASAP.
I would expect this to also be asked on SQ 218

I think it might of been a tip I picked up on here, but I have found not eating after take off allows me to sleep better and not be as tired the following day on over night flights.

In November I flew SQ 218 in Y and I can not remember if it was this flight or the returning SQ227, but I recall not noticing any meal service at all, though think it was SQ218.
I most likely went to sleep before it and the cabin lighting was raised 20 minutes or so before landing.

SQ218 is a sleeper service in J, so you can choose from 2 supper / 3 breakfast options and have it either after take off or before landing. It's an abbreviated single tray service.

We flew on SQ218 a week or so ago. The earlier posts have covered off most of it but can add that BTC doesn't impact on when you have your meal. We all ordered BTC meals (dinner meals rather than breakfast) and had them before landing after a bit of sleep rather than after take off. I note that they did they would need to start preparing about 2 hrs before landing - i think to make sure you have time to have everything you want, clear away etc.

We were on the incoming flight for 218 last night. So the menu for 218 was available to photograph. It’s topped by the statement that @madrooster posted at post 3. Naturally I have a photo of the menu for last night’s 218 service.

Thanks all for the info, we just flew as well, all valid from the previous post. The FA persuaded most people to have the supper meal soon after take off and let us sleep until about an hour before landing (I think). No proper meal service if you choose to eat later.

just thought I'll add my 2 cents. I was on the same flight a few months ago and was presented the same options to have either a dinner or breakfast.

However, the menu listed something to the contrary, specifically as listed at the top of their menu "Whether you would like your meal to be served soon after take-off, or two hours before arrival or both" as shown in @drron 's picture.

Not sure if it's a misunderstanding of the FAs or incorrect printing on the menu?

Adding my own experience on 218 couple of days ago. Was also offered to have my BTC meal after take off or prior to landing. No other meal offerings provided.

Did not pay much attention to the menu tbh, if I saw that, may have asked for a second as I was quite hungry after. In saying that, the beef was really good.
