I don't make nearly enough money. And not even close enough to lie about making enough money.

You dudes really need to find a new venue for your get togethers - rewarding any restaurant with your attendance when they want to gouge you on surcharge of 3% just not acceptable - but no doubt you are already planning same.

Hope you left ZERO tip ........ AND told the Manager and wait staff EXACTLY WHY you were leaving ZERO rip.

Venues which charge a credit card surcharge, or don't accept card are short sighted businesses IMHO, and I tend not to go back.

Could not agree more but I also strongly feel the need to share my thoughts with said establishments.

YES I understand wait staff have little control over such matters but imperative that you make it clear to management and wait staff - preferably at same time - that there will be ZERO tip whilst they gouge in this manner - make it clear to wait staff they get no tip because of actions of their bosses.

Perhaps zero Amex surcharge should be a condition of making any future large bookings at said venue. They'll likely say 'go away' but can only try it.

I'd never thought of proceeding down this route, will pass the tip (no pun) onto my dad, who continually tries to use AMEX in Australia!
