Hi Folks

Our last drinks in the Democratic People's Republic of Victoria (DPRV) was back in February, so I think we are due for another dinner / drinks night. I have unilaterally decided that Wednesday the 1st of May is a good day, and confirmed that a few regular suspects are available, so lets aim for that date and see how we go (sorry for the late notice).

5 days to go!

The venue will be Bear Brass, which is the same as last time.

Bear Brass
Ground Floor (outside on the river), Southgate Plaza
Southbank, Melbourne 3006
BearBrass Eating & Drinking by the Yarra, Southbank Melbourne

On Wednesday nights they do a $15 Pizza & Pint special. Most of us did this last time and it works well, as pizzas can be shared. If you don't want a pint, I will be happy to drink it for you and buy you the beverage of your choice

The venue is popular on a Wednesday, so I have made a booking. Please reply to this thread or send me a PM if you are coming so I can give the venue an accurate number of guests early next week.

Date: Wednesday 1 May
Time: 6pm onwards
What: Dinner and drinks with fellow frequent flyers

Venue suggestions:

Bear Brass - The venue for the last drinks which worked well. They have a $15 pizza & pint special on Wednesday
Long Room - We have been here before and they have a $28 all you can eat tapas special on Wednesdays
Fathers Office - Somewhere new to try

Others - post below

NB: I will endeavour to lock the venue in soon, and make a booking to ensure we have an adequate space / area to congregate in, so please post your attendance in this thread :)

I'm a maybe. If I get a job offer then definitely yes. If not then no, I'll be in New York on a JASA booked 11 months ago.

I just joined AFF so looking forward to meeting fellow members in MEL.Hvr - sounds like we're in the same boat. I'm also waiting for a job offer (ironically from my current employer as we're undergoing a reorganisation and have had to reapply for a role under the new structure)... All the best!

Hey! I had bolted 'ere you bought the Champers ... :p

Other than that, I doubt I can make it - I'm off later that week to CHC then LAX thanks to a heads up a few weeks ago from the OP. :D

Sorry to hear that you can't make it serfty - hope you enjoy said trip, and I will see you soon I'm sure :)

In at this stage...can't see that status changing! Venues all look OK. Thx for organising. :)

AIRwin... Sounds like you're state government? I am, and we're going through a big restructure too.

Haha noted. Well all the best to you too mate. I'm safe thankfully, but 14% aren't/weren't.

Anyway, back on topic.

Put me down as a definite maybe - I'm rostered to finish at 7pm that day so could be late, but that looks likely to change. Got to love shiftwork.

What time do they usually go until?

Are you coming? The more the merrier :p

What time do they usually go until?

There is a history of frequent flyer drinks continuing well into the evening. The group is at its largest between 6pm and 9pm, and it thins out after that. Last time a few people tend to keep going until the venue closed.

If you finish at 7pm, there should still be a healthy quorum for you to join :)
