An update on this - I checked in at MEL F checkin and after customs walked ahead to the F lounge to politely request an additional guest. The check in agent had phoned ahead unknown to me and told the lounge to expect us and they couldn't have been more helpful.

QF Mel F leads the world in efficient discrete 'service'.

Outlandish?

Ive been impressed every time.

The rule is only 1 guest but a lot of the time it depends on the lounge dragon and how busy it is when you want to access the lounge.

I have had a 50/50 strike rate with getting away with stuff that isn't allowed

I have had a great result in MEL F a few times.

Most recently was allowed in with SWMBO who was actually on a separate flight to me.

(we were originally supposed to be "travelling together" but there was a stuff-up.

F staff looked after us incredibly well.
