MEL F vs SYD F Lounge

Yep ... the catering in the BA LHR T5 Flounge has most fefinitely been ... .... "enhanced".

It's no where near as bad as it was when Baxter Storey first took over but it still isn't anywhere near to being a really good buffet. The QF Lounge in HKG for example is much better as are any of the EK Lounges at outlying ports.

They do have some interesting stuff over at BA T5 buffet but somehow I always end up ordering the burger.
It's quite a boring lounge really, lucky they have good vodka and whiskey selection to help pass the time :p

Regarding SYD F vs MEL F, each has its own pros and cons. MEL F less crowded, easier to get massage but no view and no decanter special. All minor differences, both are great.

That's not the MEL QF INT F lounge that I've been to so many times. Great view - it really is! Just not of Sydney. :)

Wouldn't go as far as great but it's all relative I suppose. My comment was compared to SYD. Should have said not as good :)

I prefer Melbourne and the view is great in MEL particularly of rwy 27 arrivals

I agree re the view of rwy 27 -- but if rwy 16R in SYD is operating those landings are spectacular (and far more numerous).

So, to summarise, the main differences are views and architecture.

Neither of those facets have any significant bearing on my choice.

For me, my main differentiation/preference is whichever one can most easily allow me to use it for several hours in the afternoon or evening. This varies with destination and, hence schedules.

E.g. for QF flights:

Japan then SYD
Auckland then MEL
Singapore then MEL (EK evening codeshare)

What did you think was better about the BA T5 F Lounge JohnK ?
Really interested to know. You are the first person I've come across who thinks this.
I'm a regular visitor there and don't rate it anywhere close to SYD F. Only slight advantage I think is a slightly better booze selection. Doesn't worry me really as I usually only drink Champagne and sparkling water (separately of course).

Kippers for breakfast!

My favourite is the MEL FLounge because it's always great to be leaving Melbourne!

I have been to both F lounges a few times and find Mel to be smaller but exactly the same food offerings. Staff are awesome at both. Sydney F is bigger. Sydney F has Nestor and probably that is the only real difference in my eyes

Russ, what about those "automatic doors", you know to the loos.
Now those are things I will remember for ever.
And I don't think its been openly mentioned on here, droll to some, but when I first saw it, it had that "wow" factor to it.

Have the SYD M loos reopened. Closed when I last went through a month ago - I suspect as a result of white marble not being the best choice for some surfaces
