Hello peeps,

This is my first post ever so please bear with me!

This trip report is about my first ever a380 flight, heading to Singapore for a couple of weeks from Melbourne back in 2009. I had heard a lot about the then new whale-jet and I just couldn't wait to fly and see what all the hype was about for myself.

Anyway, this is 18 December 2009, a scorching hot summer's day in Melbourne and I am just walking down to the gym from my work when I get a text from SQ telling me that my waitlisted seat has been confirmed for the 20th. I was thrilled - my gamble (of changing flights to be able to ride the whale!) had paid off and I did end up getting a seat after all! I quickly postponed my appointment with the gym instructor that night and headed straight to Chadstone mall - the malls were open till 12 am those days as Christmas was so near! I shopped around a little for some family and friends in SIN the entire night and did pretty much the exact same things all over again the next day, i.e the 19th, including the gym postponement!

Come 20th Dec, I was all prepared. I had finished my work for the year, I had bought all the stuff for the people I wanted to, did the OLCI, chose an aisle seat on the upper deck, and I was good to go.

Flight: SQ
MEL-SIN
Y Class
Departure: 5:00pm

At the airport, the OLCI line was empty, and it was a breeze. I cleared the immigration in 10 mins, took some GST refund and headed straight towards the beast! Couldn't get better shots though! Apologies!

We landed in SIN 10 minutes ahead of schedule - always good to have those 10 extra mins when you're on holidays!!
