MEL Xmas Dinner Sat Dec 14 2024

The event was very well organised; a big thanks to blackcat20 and her reliable sidekick for the very private venue and fine menu.

It was great catching up with the usual suspects and people I hadn't seen for a while or having met for the time (@KathN), @PrezRegan on making a secret trek down from the Bush Capital, and the delightful @Silvia on sharing her wisdom.

Thanks also go out to @LinaLee for gregariously organising the pre-dinner drinks and the tips on how to knock back a Whisky; I am beginning to realise how under-educated I am.

Finally, thanks go to Santa (this season in the ubiquitous form of @JessicaTam), who ensured I received a BA Club World amenity kit, an upgrade on many others in the sky.

Merry Christmas, everyone; enjoy the season and stay safe.

I'm keen for everyone's thoughts on the private space versus being upstairs. I found it a bit too loud which overshadowed the perks of having our own space.

@blackcat20, we agree, upstairs would have been preferable. At least as @JessicaTam indicated, cleanup would have been easy. 🪣♒.

Notwithstanding, that, thankyou for organising - we had a great night and look forward to future events. 🎉

Thanks for organizing the event @blackcat20 and @JessicaTam

Good to catch up with everyone,

The room size was ok but they need some more lighting, When you know people need a phone light to read the menu then that should be a hint that more light was required, was good to have your own bar.

Also realized how old I was getting when you have joined Qantas Frequent Flyer before some people were born.

Thanks to @LinaLee to organizing predrinks the location actually turned out to be a good outdoor spot.

Also for next year AFF Christmas dinner can a date be locked in before Virgin status earning changes so I can lock in some flights at the old rate.

Thanks for organising. Whilst having the private area was nice, it was a bit small for our group resulting in everyone having to squeeze between chairs whilst movng around; the room acoustics were terrible making the room very noisy and difficult for conversation...the AFFers with less than perfect hearing were obvious ;)

Another wonderful catch-up meeting new and old friends. It was a great night and food was it's usual high standards.

Thanks @blackcat20 and side kick for the organisation.

I discovered another Whisky Den that I have yet to even explore their range of ... might have to go back one of these days 😁

Merry Christmas all and Safe travels and Happy holidays

You were not the only only one who could not read the menu BTW. Just get the young ones to help 🤣 !!!
