I haven’t heard of this before.
Today, Melbourne Airport sent me an email giving me a free upgrade of my 3 day Value Carpark booking next week to a Terminal parking “as a special thank you” with an updated QR code to enter.
I usually use the Value carpark for my trips to ease the pressure on my corporate travel budget but having to catch the bus from my car to the terminal puts a tedious 20 minute hole in my day so this is appreciated.
I do not book parking often so I’m hardly loyal enough for a reward. Since it’s school holidays in Victoria, can they somehow make more money moving me to the Terminal carpark and freeing up a spot in the Value carpark for a longer stay?
I’m curious if anyone has any insight into when, why and how often this happens.

Congratulations, you have been upgraded!
Thank you for booking your parking early. As a special thank you, we would like to upgrade your Value parking booking to Terminal parking at no extra cost.
Terminal parking is conveniently located near Terminals 1, 2 and 3, just a short under cover walk to the check-in counters, ensuring your parking experience is both seamless and relaxing.
You don’t have to do anything to take advantage of your free upgrade. On the day and time of your booking, simply drive to Terminal 1, 2 & 3 Parking and follow the step below to enter.
Thank you for parking at Melbourne Airport.
*The free upgrade is offered as a gesture of goodwill and at the sole discretion of Melbourne Airport Management. Free upgrades are: (i) non-transferable, (ii) valid for one per customer and (iii) are not guaranteed for any future bookings. If this booking is changed or cancelled, the free upgrade offer will no longer apply.
