I will be in Melbourne on Saturday night 14 March 2009 and most likely Sunday afternoon 15 March 2009. Anyone interesting in catching up for drinks and/or dinner/lunch then please let me know.

I will also be playing golf around the Moe, Morwell and Traralgon area from Sunday 15 March 2009 through to Friday 20 March 2009 if anyone is interested in catching up.

P.S straitman are you going to be at the Avalon airshow on the weekend? If you are in Melbourne this weekend I am staying at the Best Western Mahoneys Motor Inn in Reservoir and I will have a hire car. If not do you want to catch up in Sale during the week?

I will be in Morwell the night of Wed 18. Usually stay at Choice Cedar Lodge (have not booked yet). Going to the Latrobe Valley you will get trapped by the toll roads. Can pay at Post office or on line. Straitman is just a few long drives - short flights from Morwell :p

It is a small world. I have a booking at Cedar Lodge on Wednesday night but I won't be getting QFF points as I booked through Dream Club with US$20 discount.

I didn't think about the toll road. Is there an easy way to avoid them without going too far out of the way? It appears that the Princess Highway has been replaced with the motorway. :(

The South Eastern (or Monash) is only tolled from the city to Toorak Road, so you can actually bypass it and join it at Toorak road if you like.

PM me and I can work out the best way for you.

Cheers,

Nick

La Trobe Valley

Airport to City is tolled, but not hard to avoid. Around the city north east is the new Eastlink (tolled). From Reservoir Eastlink is the fasted way to the valley.

What day & time are you going to try the escape the city ?
Be prepared for delays in traffic

I pick up a Hertz car from MEL airport on Saturday evening and I will drop this off at Hertz in Franklin St at ~4:00pm Sunday or maybe earlier if I get bored as I need to check out of Best Western ~10:00am. I pick up another Hertz car from Franklin St, possibly the same one, to take with me on my 5 day golf trip.

So I will be heading off to the Latrobe sometime Sunday afternoon. I am in no hurry to get there so may even do a couple of detours....

JohnK,

I won't be able to confirm until tomorrow. I will have 4 or 6 days off work starting Wednesday. I'll let you know what I'm up to ASAP.

I'd pay the tolls as the cost vs the time and messing around factor makes the tolls cheap.

May be able to make it for something, but can't confirm anything just yet...will advise.

Cheers

Should be able to get to something - is anything cooming together on this?

Unfortunately I have a friend coming in to visit from the country. :( I hope the you'd have a great time in Victoria, John. :)

Enjoy John,

Jenny has much planned for me Saturday  after my weekend away; Sunday is club golf at Rosebud - that's an all day event so an early Saturday night is needed.

I hope you enjoy your week in Gippsland and may your balls stay be always end up in the middle of the fairway.

Can catch up on Sunday afternoon, or maybe even Sunday lunch if you are still around then..What's tuapekestar up to?

Sorry for the late notice but it's looking unlikely I'll be able to make it - I have some very pressing things to do (and it's my own fault that they are ).

If I was to make better than expected progress maybe I could make something if it was on, but afraid my default position needs to be no.:(

JohnK, may your birdies far outnumber your bogies! ;)

No problem. I check out of the motel at 10:00am and I had nothing planned. Catch up for lunch or afternoon would be good. I will let you decide where as I am not familiar with the area.

Not quite but I would be happy if the pars outnumbered the bogies or thereabouts....

Where are you actually staying that night? In the city or out of the city somewhere?
