Thanks. Does google always give directions for the toll free route?

Are you heading off to Moe afterwards? Depending on how you plan to get there, may be easier to catch up somewhere on that route.

(As you can gather, I am not familiar with Reservoir?!)

I somehow need to work out how I am going to drop off my car at Hertz in Franklin St and pick up another Hertz car from the same place at ~4:30pm as I have the car until ~5:00pm and don't want to pick it up too early as that may mean I need to return it early next Friday and I have a late flight. All this hassle just to save ~$50 and pick up 2,000 Flying Club points.

I am heading off to Traralgon. I can meet you close to where you live mid afternoon so you don't have to go too far out of the way. I can even offer to pick you up if you want.

That makes 2 of us. At $110 for the night it is worth 660 QFF points with the Best Western double points promotion until the end of April.

From Reserevoir drive down High St or Plenty Rd. You will end on the NE corner of the city centre. Down Vic Parade and then not hard to find Frankin St. Make sure you get a Melways map from Hertz

Out of the city on Sunday avro drive down St Kilda Rd and on Dandeong Rd (also named Princes Highway.) Transfer to the Mulgrave Freewayby turning left into Warrigal Rd. That will avoid the tolls. (I think)

Going to Morwell take the 2nd Morwell sign off the freeway. Leads direct to the Cedar Lodge. See you Wednesday in Morwell

Hi there

JohnK diagonally opposite (on the corner of Edgars & Mahoneys)from your motel in Reservoir is a large pub that does reasonable meals, there is also a Dan Murphy's booze barn adjacent, but not much else.

Don't walk too far in that area after dark, probably to the pub at the most.

You are actually at the northern most extremity of Reservoir, across the road it is Thomastown.

Cheers

I took the country drive from Melbourne Airport to Reservoir. Yes Best Western appears to be in a remote area but a nice spacious room. Weather is a little dodgy and very cold at the moment. I hope it won't be too cold this week as I did not bring appropriate clothing.

Planning to meet up with oz_mark around Glen Waverley tomorrow for lunch and possibly straitman and Mrs straitman somewhere between Melbourne and Traralgon tomorrow evening on their way back home from Avalon air show.

I wish it was like that here... still quite warm in Perth! At least out on the golf course today it was only 31 degrees

Well, I understand you are looking forward to a pleasant 37 degrees today, complete with thunderstorms etc...

Thanks for lunch oz_mark. It was good to catch up again today. The cafe was quite nice but I have forgotten the name already.

Took the Hertz rental car back to Franklin Street and they asked if I minded taking the same car so I said no problem just make sure it is a new rental agreement. The guy took $30 off the quoted price, basically one day free, because I took the same car and then I pre-purchased a full tank of fuel for $1.10 a litre.

Also had a hot chocolate in Traralgon with straitman and Mrs straitman on their way back home after the Avalon Air show. Good to see you both again and I will see you again through the week.
