Anyone going to have dinner? We have eaten at the noodle bar a few times now (at crown) and have enjoyed it. I am happy anywhere. Mr & mrs munitalP are booked into Rydges, so 1/2 price food and drinks there is also an option!

Not sure what the food at rydges is like, but 1/2 price drinks certainly has some attractions :)

I think dinner @ Rydges sounds good...

Is that where we are meeting?

I'm also still going at work, so I may be a scratching... It depends how much longer I am here.

I shall sms you

Hope you're all having fun (or about to have fun!)

Caught up with munitalP today for coffee (thanks munitalP - hope the finance dept / expenses doesn't pull you up for a very big morning tea ;)); as well as trying to cajole me to go to the Grand Prix in SIN, he said I should head to the airport and down to MEL for a drink.

LOL  apart from the walk-up fare scaring me, I can't afford it (time wise). But thanks for the offer.

We started the night at Lagerfield, attendees were, Bossreggie & partner, Oz-Mark, Notzac, QF009's partner (out having fun before the boss gets home ;)), munitalP & Mrs munitalP.

Mrs munitalP started on a bottle of Pepper Tree Shiraz while the rest of us had assorted beer, gin and vodka - the vanilla vodka with a twist of lime and cranberry juice is a winner!

We then progressed over to Rydges to partake in dinner.

Across the table we ordered steaks, pasta, lamb, magic mushrooms (yep!) salads and other bits and pieces.

After a slowish start being served, we had an absolute great waiter who even shouted us a bottle of red from the list, we also knocked over a couple more bottles - Notzac is quoted in saying "No one ever got in trouble for ordering Pepper Tree Shiraz!"

Our waiter was funny, great service, knew what he was doing - an absolute asset to the hotel - if someone remembers his name, let me know and I'll send a note to Rydges.

Dinner was awesome. Everyone had meals exactly how they should have been cooked, the meats were exactly how ordered, we had no need for steak knives, the lamb was fantastic, the pasta's looked and tasted exceptional, the magic mushrooms were a selection of thinly sliced mushrooms of assorted variety...

I couldn't find fault with dinner in any way shape or form...

On receipt of the bill, we looked at the $400ish total and I smiled while whipping out the 50% off Platinum card. We all walked out with dinner being a little over $40 each including drinks and wine!

Bossreggie and his partner bid farewells and headed home, the rest of us went across the road (30 meters or so ) to 18o6 for a couple of night caps - I had a mojito or 3, there were a tom collins or two, a tom & jerry (eaten not drunk), and the famous Zombie!

After another great night, we bid our farewells, I was lucky to only have to stumble across the road to Rydges and try find my room...

Thanks all - a great night out!

Indeed it was a good night, and the meal at the Rydges was better than I had expected!

WHile I had planned on 2 mojito's at 1806, somehow a 3rd round appeared - and had to be drunk.

After that I left to learn some things about late night Melbourne public transport. I think there may be some wisdom in the idea of booking a hotel room after one of these nights :)
