I'm coming over to Melbourne in a couple of weeks time. I usually come over with kids or for expos but this time it just the 2 of us and no kids!!!! Yippee!

We land around 7:30pm and were going to head to lygon street for dinner. We are staying at punthill Knox.

My husband has training in burswood Saturday from 8:30-4:30pm. Is there a nice restaurant in Melbourne with a view that I can book for that Sat night? I am going shopping for the day on the Sat but will see how my foot holds up as I broke it 5 months ago with my 3rd!!! Surgery today and I'm still in hospital for tonight.

Sunday we don't fly out until 8pm. Suggestions on what to do??? We took a trip to mount Donna buang (sp?) last time we were there and it was snowing but it probably won't be snowing by then.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions :) first trip away without any kids!! I'm excited! :)

Hi OP for your consideration, http://www.no35.com.au

We missed this opportunity on our last trip but not the next.

As an update to this, I cancelled the Punthill Knox accomodation and just booked 2 nights at the Grand Hyatt on Collins street.

Much better and very happy with the price I got through the wotif Mystery deal ($470 for both nights)!

Thanks for your advice I told my husband it would be pointless staying that far out and I'll just drop him out there in the morning :)

I I'm assuming it's a nice place to stay? Views look good and really booking only today for this weekend with the NRL grand final I think I did pretty well! Normal wotif/expedia rates were close to $700!

Lot of Sydneysiders will be upset the NRL GF has apparently been transferred to MEL! ;)

Good move. I prefer the Park Hyatt, but it's a very nice place.

Vue de monde is sensationnel, but I think you will need to book weeks ahead. Attica, months ahead. They are world-class restaurants. Remember that when you next plan to visit.

For dinner, there are myriad choices on Southbank. Not high level views, but many good views of the Yarra and the city. On Sunday you could do worse than hire a car and head for the Yarra Valley. Great views and to die for wineries. Make sure one of you is the designated driver. ;)
