2008 Shadrach and 2009 WB Black Label + 22.5 bucker Pommery + 30 bucker Veuve - after explaining the cheap champs their gobs widened even more - such a fun night - we hadn't sat in Olive Tree together for 26 years - so much water under the bridge yet with friends of that level it seemed like last week

So a group of us (6 in total) finally got back to Olive Tree in Sth Melb last night.

They tried to continue right through the shut down but barely broke even - no Wagyu eye fillet on menu last night so couple went with $48 400g Wagyu scotch - just superb as usual:

Of course sufficient lubrication required to accompany a good steak:

Olive Tree like all other restaurants have had a seriously hard time through this pandemic - they all need our patronage to try to get back on their feet - in Sonia’s own words last night ‘If it wasn’t for job keeper and the fact we own the building and pay no rent we would be coughked’ - and this is a family owned restaurant that has been operating continuously for 40 years!

Get put and spend some money in your favourite restaurants please.

We are doing our bit over in Perth too. So many places were crippled by the COVID-19 shut down.
Ciao Fratelli and Il Ciao are back open for dining in
In Adelaide we cut the rent on our cafe as they could only do take out.
I miss the pork ribs in Marina del Rey at Nichols. It will be a while before we get there.
We have London dining gift cards to Goodman and Ivy that could take a while to use.
