Melbourne T1 Qantas Club closed due to fire

I also assume no J lounge either.

Glad no one was hurt

Seems that all 3 T1 lounges might be closed for the day...

I heard about this after a friend posted on my FB page wondering if I was there!

Just rocked up to the lounge then and yep all closed off! All the cafes will be doing a roaring trade.

At least a few days inconvenience from water damage (from the sprinklers presumably) is better than no QP at all. (In Hobart when firies attended a fire at Myer they thought the fire was out and turned the sprinklers off. Now there is a large hole in the ground where there used to be a department store).

Well done to the firefighters, I say (AFRS, MFB & CFA).

Presumably DJ/VA staff are on hand giving free drinks to QP refugees? :p

It was obviously the fridge that stored the curries!

Wondering who will be the first user to complain about the lack of 'service' or something else :)

Is there any compensation? Other times that lounges have been closed they have given out vouchers.

Darn Alan Joyce is to blame!

If he didn't have a huge pay rise, and the fire crews were not stuck in the priority boarding line - this wouldn't have happened. Don't get me started on the overseas maintenance of the fridges!

Hang on QF had a priority boarding lane???? Surely this is the big news story here? I just bet there were loads of non status pax in the priority lane. Just goes to show the priority lane needs strict enforcement. :p

My money is on incorrect fridge selection. Given the QF track record of poor aircraft selection you can hardly expect them to pick the right fridge. :p

Lol - probably has higher energy costs as well

You know it will be interesting to see how much they would be 'losing' while being out of action. I would've thought they may actually save a bit of money, not serving food and alcohol. (Of course there are still staffing costs, but surely they would have insurance for this event?)

QF's fridge - The right choice.

May well have been the new Whirlpool "Trent" range - I hear they are the Rolls Royce of fridges :roll eyes:

:)

FWIW, in similar situations in the past, QF have provided F&B vouchers to lounge eligible passengers.
