We are flying with Qantas to Los Angeles in September landing at 7am and then need to transfer for a flight to Las Vegas at 10.25am in terminal 6
There is one ticket so the baggage should be transferred to the plane .
Plan is to walk to terminal 6 so to avoid re entering security queues .
Is this achievable as its only 3hrs 25 minutes between flights

On arrival into Los Angeles you will clear immigration, pick up your bags, clear customs and then just before you exit landside you will see a baggage redeposit facility.

Deposit your bags and after exiting into the arrivals hall turn tight and go right to the end where you will find the TBIT transit security.(They may ask to see your AA boarding pass.)

Once through, head up and follow the signs through to T6.

It represent more of a walk than going outside, but TBIT transit security will generally be much quicker than standard security at T4, T5 or T6.

Great advice , cheers

Probably just add to your existing thread

For the record you can probably get to T6 quicker walking outside, it’s just whether T6 TSA is much slower than TBIT. It’s a bit of a hike airside from TBIT.

Just downloaded an app called MyTsa on iPhone and actually has delay times for all airports and reciprocal terminals …very good app

As per my earlier reply, it is generally faster to use the TBIT transit security.

Another factor to consider is what class of travel or would you have have oneworld status.

But a longer distance to walk to T6.

About 5 minutes if you go outside. I timed about 15 minutes to T6 from the QF lounge.

I do not care ... it is generally overall quicker to take the TBIT transit. Walking a little further after a long flight is normally good as well.

Depends. I have TSA Pre now, I reckon T6 could be quicker. Walking in fresh air, with possible sun, also good after a long flight.
