Does anyone know how you would get to New Caledonia from MEL on one of VA's partners?

I'm thinking it would have to be via AKL on NZ.

Has anyone attempted this seemingly simple feat?

NZ don't publish a fare MEL-NOU, but you could buy MEL-AKL-MEL and AKL-NOU-AKL separately. Noumea falls in to the Pacific Islands destination category, so no points / SCs / lounge access for AKL-NOU-AKL.

Your other option would be VA flights MEL-BNE-VLI and then continuing on NF or SB for VLI-NOU.

The agreement between VA/NZ prevents them form selling the Pacific Island together, apparently to promote competition.

They have both apply to have this restriction removed, so hopefully the goverment departments see some light and see that it has befits aswell

Can we use Velocity points to book travel on NZ to PPT? I have an ANZ rewards card and I can transfer points to VA and/or NZ.. I have no clue about how the Airpoints system works so not sure if I should transfer to them and then redeem?

I thought that might be the case. Seems like a trip via AKL would be the most practical.

Thanks for that info. I wasn't aware. Fingers crossed this gets resolved, as obviously we'd like to take advantage of our status when travelling through the Pacific Islands.
