Normally we stay at the Ibis before an early flight(meaning before 0900).However on this occasion the Mercure was the same price as the Ibis so we stayed there. We stayed many years ago when it was a Hilton and were regular vistors to their Sunday Brunch >20 years ago.
No upgrades-no status so why would it occur anyway.Got room closest to lift which was appreciated due to Mrsdrron's back pain.Could not hear the lift. Some road noise but not excessive seeing our room fronted the busy road. The room was dark even though the camera seems to contradict that-
.
You certainly don't come for the view-
The surprise was the restaurant. Our son and daughter in law joined us for dinner and the food was really good.I had the pork on a kumara mash with a spiced apple sauce.Tender, tasty pork and well presented-
So if a good price would be happy to stay here again.
