Mercure Sydney Airport.

Normally we stay at the Ibis before an early flight(meaning before 0900).However on this occasion the Mercure was the same price as the Ibis so we stayed there.We stayed many years ago when it was a Hilton and were regular vistors to their Sunday Brunch >20 years ago.
No upgrades-no status so why would it occur anyway.Got room closest to lift which was appreciated due to Mrsdrron's back pain.Could not hear the lift.Some road noise but not excessive seeing our room fronted the busy road.The room was dark even though the camera seems to contradict that-

You certainly don't come for the view-

The surprise was the restaurant.Our son and daughter in law joined us for dinner and the food was really good.I had the pork on a kumara mash with a spiced apple sauce.Tender,tasty pork and well presented-

So if a good price would be happy to stay here again.

I stayed there over a year ago and thoroughly enjoyed that dish.

I like that its only a 10 minute walk to the international terminal.

Have stayed there also and agree the food is surprising - very good standard of food for a hotel!

Stayed there the night before my physicians exam some years ago now. I didn't sleep very well. That had nothing to do with the hotel!

The hotel is a basic hotel and convenient to the int terminal. Would happily stay there again.

I was here a few weeks ago (usually ibis world square) and hated it. Rude/vacant staff. Room was lovely but the staff ruined it. Also, if you are intending on going into the city at all its lot worth it. My cabs for one night out cost the room rate. If you want a nice room and don't want to talk to the staff or go into the city it's lovely.

It's slap bang in the middle of two train stations, one costing more than the other to use.

QF put us up here for 1 night after our LAX-SYD was delayed overnight and arrived late on a Saturday missing the last connection to ADL. It served the purpose but was nothing spectacular. I'm not always that optimistic about airport hotels.

Wooli Creek station is a 12 minute walk through some parks and sports ovals along the creek. From three it's about 10 minutes to Central. Standard city rail fares apply.

It's no more than a 10 minute walk to international T1.
