Notwithstanding his PC could have been a tower, he may have taken that with him it was a laptop, like most people.

Interesting comment over on the FT forum stating that the pilot was a political fanatic and supporter of the opposition leader who has just been found guilty of sodomy. Said he was at the trial 7 hours before the flight.

Maybe something just snapped....

I travel a lot around the USA, and I (like most of us) find their over zealous security a necessary frustration, but my experience at KUL (KLIA) yesterday was concerning to say the least. There were a number of passengers in wheel chairs coming through security after immigration, and this made the few security staff quite busy, but this lead to at least 4-5 bags going through the scanners with NO ONE on the monitors! My bag was one of those that wasn't reviewed. I know they scan again before you board, but seriously, a week after MH470, surely security would be stricter!

During 9/11 passengers and crew were able to make calls.

I dont know a whole lot about planes but there are airphones, and surely ways for the crew to notify somebody of an emergency ? This doesnt appear to have been done.

So, who prevented calls, not the pilot if he was up front, maybe there were accomplices up the back ?

The suicide view seems odd as well because why fly for so long, and for potentially a political protest ?

In case your wondering what that is all about, there were stories around earlier talking about the ping giving location, it looks like the ping actually says I am here waiting for instructions and I can see the immarsat at x number of degrees from the horizon. In this case its 40 degrees. I would imagine the red lines stop where its not possible for the aircraft to be based on time flown.

From my reading, the distance calculation has been based on timestamps. i.e. calculate the number of microseconds the ping took, which will then yield a calculation of how far from the satellite the was from the plane.

Anwar has been jailed so many times and for so many years that it seems unlikely that the pilot just snapped. However, the negative press and commentary on politics in Malaysia might just make a difference to Anwar and therefore if the pilot had a roundabout way of drawing attention to Malaysia's politics, he may have succeeded.

But then, on the other hand, the pilot's terrible actions would make the Malaysian opposition look really bad by association. Ooh I love a good conspiracy theory.

From my reading, the distance calculation has been based on timestamps. i.e. calculate the number of microseconds the ping took, which will then yield a calculation of how far from the satellite the was from the plane.

My reasoning is based on the image of the satellite elevation map having the rings being drawn on the 40 degree line which I posted. MH use the Honeywell AMT3500 phased array for Immarsat comms AFAIK, satellite bearing would be part of the handshake, as it would be programmed to re-scan when it gets to a certain point in the footprint knowing it was likely to be closer to another sat on another freq. Other aircraft can used a radome with a dish which definitely would need elevation data as part of the handshake, such as these ones made by Honeywell

The yanks seem pretty confident the bird is down this way.

One senior US analyst has reportedly stated MH370 flew south and landed successfully on a recently broken away piece of Antarcticas ice shelf in protest over global warming. In full support of Australias antiquated coal fired power stations, Tony Abbott announced on ABC 24 that he is keen to further Australias SAR commitment to prove the analyst wrong as global warming does not exist.

Sorry to trivialise a tragic blight on aviations history, but my brain is melting down with all this speculation. For anyone who hasn't guessed, this post is absolute BS.
