MH Business. Is it up to Scratch?

I've just done SYD-KUL return in J.
First time on the A330 new J, having done old J and F quite a few times.
I hate the J seat in A330.
Impossible to find a comfortable position for eating or lounging.
Forget about sleeping - you'll slide off.
Before engaging bed mode make sure you've put your shoes well away preferably in the overhead,
or they'll get crushed by the seat descending. Thankfully no Gucci loafers for me - just trainers.
Air crew confirmed lots of complaints received about the new seat.
Yuck. I'll stick to SQ in J, now that MH F has gone.

Did the Chef on Call for the return, took 30 minutes on the phone to book 2 meals.
The website booking facility has been down for a while.
Air crew said I was lucky the ConC booking was received, many aren't successful.

CX amenity kit in J is quite good. QF is disappointing in J - not even any lip balm!

I think it's 34K points for AUS-KUL in J.

With SQ it's 46,500 so that's 12,500 difference, nothing to sneeze at.
Even taking into consideration the inferior MH A330 product?

How does the A330 product used on long haul compare to A330 product used on KUL-HKG? One and the same?

If you're short of the points for SQ, then MH A330 J is better than nothing.
Any J is better than Y.

I think A330 on KUL-HKG is the same. All old A332 have been retired now.

One more annoying thing about the darned seat:
when converting from any position to eating position,
and vice versa, if the table is already deployed,
your thighs will bump into it and knock everything off.
So you can only safely change position with the table stowed away.

Oh another annoying thing, the PTV screen is so far down that in normal sitting/dining position,
you are actually looking down at the screen.
To look straight at the screen you have to change into the Z lounging position and adjust the seat down.
Recaro lost the plot with this seat.

I have to say their IT systems could do with an upgrade. Trying to do seat selection for a J MEL-LHR flight in September for mrs opusman and myself is proving rather trying. "Manage My Booking" says we have no seats allocated and won't let me pick them. The call center says we have seats allocated but on the MEL-KUL segment the seats we have (7A&C) don't even exist according to seat guru. I'm starting to think the extra $4k for QF might have been worthwhile!

I think A330 on KUL-HKG is the same. All old A332 have been retired now.

They are using an A380 on KUL-HKG route in the afternoons now ( as of 1st May MH72/73) and in the mornings from HKG-KUL a 737.
