Its not really different to other alliance RTWs, other than change fees perhaps (I'm not familiar with rules of ST RTWs).

On *A, just book a dummy routing and can change everything unflown after the first intercontinental (subject to the rules of course) for a change fee and any fare difference (if upgrade to higher mileage limit).

Struggling to use your Frequent Flyer Points?

Hmm.. it is quite different, IMO - You won't have to determine the rest of your RTW routing when purchasing your ticket, and don't need to pay a change fee.

It might not make a huge difference, if you are planning a 1 month RTW with a few stops, but if one were planning to spend 3 mths, 6 mths or 1 year RTW exploring the world, it could be difficult deciding where you will end up going.
