MH to launch Perth - Kota Kinabalu

Malaysia Airlines from 18JAN11 is launching 3 weekly Kota Kinabalu – Perth service with new Boeing 737-800 aircraft. The airline is now accepting reservation for this route.

Kota Kinabalu non-stop from Perth starting Jan 15

I'm not sure how reliable these news reports are but Malaysian Airlines have scheduled a 3 x weekly service from Perth to Kota Kinabalu commencing Jan 15.

Maybe not much help to Oz East Coast flyers but it does give Perth passengers some interesting options if they wish to fly onwards to Manila, Seoul, Taipei or Osaka.

Another Velocity earning option as well.

The dreaded departure time of 0040 Wed Fri Sun!

How many people will turn up to check-in at 2300 or thereabouts on Wed Fri Sun having missed the flight which departed 22 hours earlier because they don't understand the phenomenon of the 24 hour clock which is still a great mystery to some?

Interesting that MH is now flying a 737 into Australia. That must be a first for them. Although 5.5 hours on a 737 is always a bit tough. Great price $700 return. For about the same price it is possible to find one leg to go via KUL. That's a pretty good deal.
