We were supposed to fly on MH149 which was going to operated by the leased SAS A350: Malaysia Airlines Acquires Scandinavian Airlines Airbus A350

So, I paid the extra 100AUD per person on a flex fare to select one of the premium economy seats that are marketed as extra legroom.
Edit: Not very clear in this picture, but we selected row 22 previously.

Today, I got an email saying that the flight has been changed to an A330 which doesnt have such seats.
Usually, MH says seat fees are non-refundable. Do I have any grounds to contest this?

Thanks

MH says seat fees are non-refundable.
Does it say on what scenarios are the seat fees non-ref?

You can definitely call their global customer support. IME, they are somewhat nice & knowledgeable to deal with. If they don't know, they will place you on hold and ask around for information. Their contact number is: 132627

Hmm, i tried this, but without any success. They were adamant that the extra legroom seat on the A330 is the same as the A350 :/

In any case, here is the update on this route.

Their Malaysian customer support might be able to help you with this, but it requires you to be able to speak Malay.

Pressing "Malay" when prompted for language sends you to the Malaysian-based team, which has more experience/knowledge than the global support team.

(Sorry this isn't an ideal solution, just throwing the option out there)

Interestingly, my flight in November this year is still showing as the A350.
Would be a shame as I would have liked to try out this new config.

Does it though? Their Malaysia-based staff could speak English?

To be clear, are you still seated in extra legroom seats on the A330? (I understand that A330 extra legroom is not the same as the PE seats on the 350).

Well, the Malaysia-based staff can definitely speak English. Whether or not they entertain your request to speak English is probably up to them.

IME, some agents ask you to call the global line, but some will speak English with you.

I suppose it is worth a try.. Could say I pressed the wrong button
Yeah, I think it's worth a try.
