I might have to give it a go, at least until I can fly again. The Movie mode looks good

I bought the game and have been generally impressed. As others have said, the graphics are just incredible. There's so much detail that you can even quite clearly see my house, as well as various landmarks around Canberra, in the game. I particularly enjoyed the graphics flying around Cape Town, with Table Mountain etc.

I'm afraid there are still quite a few glitches though. The autopilot on some of the aircraft (e.g. 747, 787) doesn't work properly and I've found it possible to maintain a constant altitude at cruise in "altitude hold" mode. Also, when using autopilot to navigate according to the flight plan, the plane keeps making uncommanded banks to the left and right. I also found it difficult to control the pitch and bank with the keyboard, as is the game default. I got around this by setting it up so that I can use my mouse as a joystick. (I do also have some specialised controls from back when I used to play FSX - joystick, thrust levers and rudder pedals, but don't always have them plugged in.)

With some more patches and bug fixes though, this is going to be a really good game.

Sounds quite realistic, Matt.

Hi everyone,

Has anyone tried this with the Oculus Rift VR headset? If so how does it look? I have the headset, but I was also looking into getting other gear for a nice setup at some point.

Regards,
Peter @ Oeck.

Hmmm realism, glitches, like some manufactures of real commercial passenger aircraft.

Sadly (well, actually not sadly) the glitches in the game have been much worse. For example, after the last update was brought out, there was a bug where one of the A320neo engines would shut down while taxiing and couldn't be restarted.

Apparently the coat hanger is coming to the harbour:

Looks promising. Do I need to use my Opal card to to fly over the bridge? Can I exit with a negative balance and ditch the card ;)

Anyone else on AFF enjoying FS20? It’s not without it’s bugs, but so far I’m loving the landing challenges but especially the awesome eye candy in game.

I have been enjoying it - particularly the scenery. It's clearly a great game with lots of potential.

There are just too many bugs that make the planes unflyable at times. After the last upgrade, the slightest movement of the yoke would cause the plane to pitch up to the point of stalling, or down to the point of nosediving. And the autopilot hasn't been much better. I'm just patiently waiting for now for more updates to fix all the many, many bugs - although some updates seem to have made things worse!

I did have to laugh at the notes for the last update which advised they'd "removed a huge hole in Brazil".

I hear ya... in the last update the yoke sensitivity profile went from near linear to exponential at about 50% which makes it very difficult especially in windy conditions. And the A320 is still not behaving correctly to yoke inputs on final approach making that aircraft a nightmare to land smoothly. Despite all these bugs it’s still captured my attention :)

Perhaps the big hole in Brazil is the missing Amazon rainforest that the Brazilian Government paid Microsoft to cover up for political reasons.

Have you tried disabling the "Boeing MCAS" feature? ;)

This bug appears to be unique to the A320 (and Airbus family of aircraft) from what I’ve read. There’s a work around but it involves installing a modified aftermarket A320 aircraft and disabling the ‘SEC1’ feature... this fixes the ‘wing dip’ bug but also introduces new challenges with the fly by wire Airbus implementation In FS20. Long story short, great sim that works well 99% of the time but a few bugs that need to be ironed out. If you just like flying around with great scenery then this is your flight sim.
