I found something interesting over the weekend - I always thought that everyone was Hilton Diamond because they were staying lots at Hiltons, after seeing that many had dropped back, I realise that this might have only been because of the Virgin status match from QF with the consequent Hilton Diamond deal.

I understand that there might be a need to move away from a Hilton next time, but I will be a little bit sad that it is. I'm still on the qualifying path for Diamond and so really like staying there as often as I can, but can understand that if no-one is Diamond any more then it might not be all that functional using a Hilton as not everyone is guaranteed lounge access as we have in recent years.

That said, I really appreciate all the effort that everyone puts in, especially munitalP. Thanks so much for all your efforts, mate. It really is a stellar event and I realise it takes a lot of your time and effort.

I was surprised that so many ended up piking so early - there were only about 8 of us down in the Marble Bar after 12:30am, but I loved it. Got another stellar chat with Storyteller and my first decent chat with Tony Hancock that night. It's almost convinced me that I need to consider going for dual QF WP/AA EXP in future years!

You have to be careful chatting to Storyteller, beardoc! My +1 thought I was a looney when I first started investigating the worth (or lack thereof) of status. After a pleasant night in the BNE lounge and a long chat with Storyteller, she was a status convert. I'm still not convinced with the value of status, but +1 seems somewhat hooked. The upside for me is that she was always the handbrake to my spending..... Now I don't seem to have opposition when it comes to spending on airfares and accommodation! I'm not entirely sure that's a good idea !!!

It may have been Storyteller that completed the sale, but it was her experience with Jetstar to SYD on Friday which signed and sealed the deal :mrgreen:

Having had a chat with her quite a bit, I think you'll be in the status game for a long time to come yet Hey, it beats money going to shoes, right? *runs*

Thanks very much to Ewing for that introduction to a true gem in the city! We may have to do something about that VIP pass though........after hearing about the Indian version of VVIP, I think we need to introduce the wonderful maitre d' of Lynn Shanghai to the concept of Platinum! I do know for a fact, Lynn Shanghai will be a regular eatery for the swanning_it troupe whenever in residence at Hilton SYD!

But yes it's fantastic. I only discovered it by chance when I was looking at an apartment in the building above it. I didn't like the apartments too much, but the restaurant is great!

No worries about crashing at my place. I'm going to have to try the baked eggs that you had at my local café one time as they looked rather good!

A copy of the letter as an image is on the Facebook group wall (you may need to scroll considerably to get to it, as it is "old news" now!). PDF copies of the slides of the main presentation and VA's presentation are also there.
