Middle name shown on passport but not flight tickets

… I could arrange a name change at their airport service desk for €80. The ticket originally cost €99! Included was extra cost of seats near the front. There were only about 20 pax and we were told to sit in the back for weight distribution …
Thank you for posting. Now there’s another airline that I will make sure to never fly.

Think I'll definitely have to rebook once Cathay cancels my scheduled bookings. Will be a pain since I won't be notified until end of this month when they release the June schedule.

Do people know how quick points are refunded when a flight is cancelled? I assume since it's not a Qantas flight it'll take a little longer.
See CX forum, June schedule out (still shockingly thin), no Barcelona unfortunately.

The problem is booking flights through the QF system - there is no field for middle name. I had this issue a few years back and was panicked about it but all was fine.
This time I have put both my names in the first name field and hoping that won’t throw up an error.

Also same issue with CX hoping that my late August flights will go ahead - but not too confident. I have two back up options booked.

The QF system does have a middle name field. However the system automatically defaults my first name and middle initial into the first name field.

I also have the same issue, my middle name have been doubled up. I booked through Qantas Frequent Flyer website which have all my travel details in there however the ticket was still issued incorrectly. Qantas want to charge me cancellation fees even if this is initially not my error and re book the trip with under different price (more expensive). They said that they are not able to change the name because part of the trip are with other airlines. So frustrated dealing with them, how can they sell the ticket with their partner airlines but not able to help us change anything.
Their call center was not very helpful. While waiting, Qantas have said that we have to be respectful with their employees but this should also goes both ways. A little sympathy to our issue will be appreciated.
I understand from the previous post it seem that Middle name are not that important, but I am travelling through the States and they can be difficult sometimes so just want to have everything in order.
Do you guys have any suggestion? I am thinking to try to go to the airport and see if the Qantas help desk can help me a bit more....

I can't see an issue. I travel to the USA without my middle name on the ticket (yet it is on my passport)

The USA and other authorities match name data swiped from your passport at check-in, not your ticket.

So they know who you are.

I would present yourself at the airport as if you had no knowledge of any problem!

Thank you Mel, i feel so much better

I booked Cathy Pacific flights through qantas from Australia to the UK via Hong Kong.
Ticket has first name, middle initial, last name.
Passport has full name including middle name.
Both airlines tell me there may be a problem and they cannot change the middle initial and that I should cancel and rebook - which would cost about $7k 😖
Very stressed about it.
Anyone had this issue?

I just checked three QF award bookings on BA, one has first and last only, one has first, initial and last, and the other has first, middle and last.

Not sure how that happened, but I'm not concerned at all.

@Kacymru , We had this exact same problem with my husbands booking, travelling with Cathay to London (and onwards with 3 other airlines).
I googled, read everything I could asked questions on this forum and stressed. In the end it was never a problem, no one ever questioned it.

So don't worry and enjoy your trip

THANK YOU SO MUCH! I’ve been so stressed. I know everyone’s experience is different, but it’s good to know it wasn’t a problem for you.
Thanks

Thank you everyone for your input.
When I contacted Cathay Pacific through their Customer WhatsApp service they said it was fine as long as the first and last name are accurate.
Screen shot below for those interested.
As an FYI, this contradicted the advice given by their customer service rep on the phone and also the advice given by Qantas who both told me to cancel and rebook.
Don’t always trust what they tell you first time!
Thanks again!
