When did the price go up? Used to be US$1k per 40,000, plus tax and $30 fee. Now it's $1.1k. At least the AU$ is back up.

Not sure if I have my calulations correct but very similar cost to US Airways if going to Asia.

Purchase 80,000 miles (60,000 AA miles + 20,000 bonus) = ~AUD1,770 (USD1803.75)

Return South Asia in business class 70,000 miles = ~AUD1,550

I believe taxes and surcharges on AA are low or has that changed recently?

Having a look at the award chart and notice Bhutan is listed as Asia Zone 2. Might be an interesting destination for 1 or 2 nights but struggling to workout which airlines fly there.

So you can buy an extra 20k + bonus?

Yes. Only the base points purchased count towards the 40k annual limit.

Now that the limit is 60k you can purchase the extra 20k base points.

Purchased the 20k extra miles on Thursday night and they have already posted to my account. Quickest I've ever seen miles post to AA.

I usually find the purchased miles post almost immediately, but the bonus ones will take 8 weeks or so.

This offer came out the day after all miles counted for lifetime status. So now they are no help getting status.
John for Bhutan just get to BKK and then it is Druk Air-Bhutan's airline.

And there in lies the problem.

Not sure about Druk Air. Need to do some more research but I have my mind set on Nepal and Bhutan now.

Thanks Fifa!

Looks like an amazing place but to start with I would only want to spend 1-2 nights.

I only got the email yesterday but this is perfect for me to load up with my extra 20K+bonus and Mrs LW to add her 60K+bonus.

Similar pricing to the current SPG promo - 20,000 points for $US560 which converts to 25,000 AA points.

No, but you can use them for award flights on Qantas.

Once purchased do they arrive quick?

Can they be combined with QFF points for any seat award?

Can use them first buying any seat award then use the QFF points to top up?

1) You should get your purchased miles in your account within 3 days, sans the bonus miles, which will come usually about 6-8 weeks after the end of the promotion (so probably some time in late February for this lot).

2) No.

3) No.
