Thanks for the TR nonpop, especially as Mrs Paddy and I are looking at an Eastern Europe visit to Prague and other places next year.

I'd heard enough tales about cab drivers ripping off the tourists in Prague, etc to thing we might travel on a tour through Poland, Czech, Hungary instead of travelling independently as we usually do and was wondering if you had any thoughts on that?

Paddy if you normally travel independent (as we do) there is no reason to change. Poland & Hungary were a long while ago for us so things may have changed but we had no hassles when we did it. For us Czech was more recent, maybe you get get something out of my trip report here http://www.australianfrequentflyer....runas-francs-europe-30408.html?highlight=telc

The nice thing is even thought you have separate tickets, just make sure you are booking the actual metal the code share would have been on. I see it as 'insurance' that once in the air, if the flight is delayed then the connecting flight will usually wait as there are incoming pax if you know what I mean

That is interesting to know, as I have an AY ticket next month BKK-HEL-BUD//LHR-HEL-BKK. I am a little concerned about the LHR-HEL (AY5904) on BA metal as there is only a 40 min connection in HEL on the return to BKK.

Only just picked this report up. Great report and somewhat relevant to me as I have a HKG-HEL-ARN leg coming up in a few weeks. Certainly made me happy that I picked AY (apart from the excellent pricing!).
