Minimum Connection Time SIN

Did this same trip - Syd Sin Dxb last Nov - and while I had to leg it a bit from some far-flung F arrvl gate around via air train to an A departure gate there was no real issue and my bag made the transit as well.

One of our first trips away post-covid involved a tight SQ-to-SQ connection in Sin. Think it was under 40 mins because we were late arriving. Shudnt hv worried as we ended up hanging in the departure lounge for 20 mins. Gave us time to fire up the ipad and check that our bags made the transit as well. Probly the best airport for tight conxs - if you're with SQ..

I agree…I have heard they have not been able to get enough baggage handlers at the airport. On a recent trip, we waited almost an hour for our bags to come out and the weather (rain) was given as the reason but interestingly, a couple of carts appeared quite quickly after delay announcement was made with water, milo and biscuits for waiting us passengers waiting for our bags…made me wonder if the baggage handler shortage was the real reason….
remember first time i saw this water cart thing I was rather shocked.

A week and a bit ago we had a short transit at SIN (SQ228 to SQ512, a scheduled 50 minute transit). Fortunately, there were no delays; however we were in the rear section of the A380 and deplaning was a long process. Furthermore, we got dumped at F42 in T2 (one of the furthest from the centre) and had to trek to B8 in T3 to catch the next flight.
Needless to say, with brisk walking and fortuitous SkyTrain timing, we managed to make it to B8 just as the status went from "Gate Closing" to "Gate Closed". What a sigh of relief.
Apparently we were the only 2 pax connecting from 228 to 512 that day (weird as it was the first day of VIC school holidays so would have expected a large number of pax to be making that connection).
If we didn't make it, we would've had to wait for 508 at 0850 the next morning.
Hate to think what would have happened if 228 was even ~10 minutes delayed.

No ground staff waiting for you at the arrival gate?

What time (before departure) did you actually reach the gate? Gates usually strictly close 10 mins before departure.

Nope. This was very surprising, I was telling my wife while we were on board 228 and waiting to get off the plane that there should be a staff member there with a board with our names on it to speed run us all the way to the next gate. The horror on our faces when we didn't see it!

We arrived at 2210 (scheduled departure of 512 is 2220). The biggest cause of delay was the long time taken to get off the 228 at SIN, we were in the rear section of Y in the A380 and for some reason there were many pax in the forward section of Y that decided to wait until everyone in front of them already left, before they would reach out in the overhead compartment and start fumbling around for their baggage. I think by the time we ourselves got to the plane's exit we had chewed through around 20-25 mins of the transfer time!

Anyway, glad it all worked out.
We just got back to MEL last night, had a much more casual 1hr35min transfer at SIN and the luck continued, didn't take too long for our bags to appear on the carousel at MEL (it usually takes quite a while) and going through customs was a breeze even after declaring some curry powders and spices.
Overall a good trip!
