Hi All
I recently reached Gold and tipped over with some points to spare. After these extra points did not credit to my tally for next year I contacted Virgin and was informed that these extra SC had now disappeared. Seems unfair, does anybody have any experience with this?

Depends a bit on what happened.

The main thing to watch for is that status calculations are done on a daily basis. So, if your flights creditted and gave you 505 or 510 at the end of your qualifying day, then those 5 or 10 spare credits will not be in the new year.

Yep, that's what happened to me!

Despite being WP for years I never realised this. Thanks @oz_mark !

I guess the lesson is not travel *on* the status assessment day (for requal) but seems mostly unavoidable when first qualifying. Only option there is to qualify as close to the required SC and not 'over qualify', eg. Not take a long haul J sector when you only need a couple of SC to qualify... this is not always possible.

They won't count for maintaining gold as they were earn't before your new year started. However they should still count towards upgrading to platinum.

You will have 2 targets on your account; the 400 SCs that you need to earn in the 12 months between review dates to maintain gold and the 1000 SCs that you need to reach to upgrade to platinum. The SC earning is reset to 0 for the first target at each review whereas the SC earning for the second target is a rolling 12 month window ie. SCs drop off when they are 12 months old.
