'Money can't buy' QFF experiences trial

Usual QFF fluff. Money can very easily buy these types of experiences.

More interesting question is what CPP are you getting for this experience.

Of course money can buy the experience. That's how Qantas obtained the places - and here's the link: Group Tickets | New Orleans Pelicans | Pelicans.com

Generally, the CPP value of redemptions for things Qantas has to pay for would be around 0.5c per point - using gift cards as a point of reference. I'm guessing that this package would have cost Qantas approx $2,500 to put together including someone's time to arrange it and perhaps covering a risk that some paid places might not get taken up.

It does look like terrible value when compared to flight redemptions in premium cabins, but less dreadful when compared to the Qantas Store stuff that people here were going crazy for approximately 35 months ago.

I received an invite for this..seems the money can’t buy part is access to the pre game warm up and the signed jersey. Not the tickets themselves.

The link to group experiences that I posted earlier indicates that they will put together a customised package for the right price. They describe it as “fan experiences you can’t get anywhere else” rather than “money can’t buy”.

Anyone with a Concierge Service or possible AMEX could source event tickets like this. I'd bet a Four Seasons' Concierge could as well.
QF would have been better offering a Mariott Bonvoy Moments (ex Starwood Moments) access to events they sponsor.

You can bid using your points for events at stadiums they partner with. As W is a MG/WP Sponsor, they had several VIP tickets to the Opening/Closing Concert and Beach party. These are money can't buy experiences because you get sponsor tickets and benefits that you would absolutely not be able to purchase on the open market.

It's a real missed opportunity.

Hilton have been doing these for years as an auction. A few years ago, I bid for one involving a hot air balloon ride, desert safari and a free 3 nights in suite which was great (in DXB) and also an Asian themed one in Qingdao China. The one in China was a bit of a rigmarole to organise so Hilton refunded all the points I had bid. So, it cost me nothing. It wasn't a fixed amount that you had to bid in hilton points, it was a timed bid, highest one won. They've since watered down the offerings, but looks like they still run some.

If I want to go to an event I'll go regardless of QF offers, would rather QF offer the 'money can't buy' reward tickets using points.
