Moon Landings - fact or conspiracy

There will always be debate and discussion on science, and it does change over time as further research is undertaken and knowledge evolves. Having said that on a lot of scientific topics, the evidence is very very difficult to refute - and when it is - it is typically only debunked with further, usually rigourously gathered, scientific evidence.

Which reminds me of this (How Math Works):

Trouble with science is that it is not absolute, whereas beliefs are (at least in the view of the belief holder!).
Big bang theory anyone? Hands up anyone who was there to see it?

Science makes a lot of guesses. Not always right. Although the chemistry teacher blowing a hole in the sink was fun. Was that magnesium?

To make an argument about 'science' it help to understand what it is. The 'big bang' is a theorem. You don't 'see' it, unless its written down for you. Its an idea which goes to explain a series of observations and phenomena. You are perfectly free to come up with your own theorem to explain those same observed phenomena. If yours is a better and more consistent explanation, it will probably overtake the current preferred theorem.

Take gravity. No, I haven't seen it. But there's an idea around about how it works; been around for yonks and you'd think pretty well entrenched. Not so - there are new ideas coming through about what causes gravity.

'Science' doesn't make guesses; its a methodology. Scientists come up with a range of ideas to explain things. They are considered by those who are well placed to sift the evidence (and many who are not) and the best model becomes the preferred one. But it isn't fixed. Again, anyone is free to challenge, tear down the current model with evidence etc and put a better idea forward.

'Science' is the best antidote to ignorance that I know of. Its not compulsory, but it helps to understand it when someone is arguing against it.

But some people don't believe in science

That's like saying "some people don't believe in trees" science, like trees is there for all to see.
What you may find, is some people disbelieve the findings regardless of the physical proof , that's why it's called science BTW.
If one were to write a book by collecting vague accounts by people who weren't there .... Oops they did, it's called the ......

Posts about God were removed. This topic concerns the moon landings. Let's keep things on topic and not attack each other.
