More SG's than PS's?

When Qantas was thinking about going into private hands and they talked about splitting up the frequent flyer side of the business, I read an article that mentioned (i wish I knew where it came from) that there was approximately 10,000 Chairman's Lounge members (in effect Platinum) and another 35,000 to 40,000 Platinum Members out of total at the time of 5.5 million members. That represents at the top end about 0.9 to 1% of members at the top fo the frequent flyer scale.

The letter I received along with the first edition of Air magazine (that one they send to WP members) last year said it was for the top 1% of frequent flyers which is not far off your estimate, Taswegian77. Would be interesting to know for sure, however!

Not all WP's get Air - I certainly do not.

So that tells me > 1% of QFFers are WP.

Interesting - I assumed that all WPs would get Air.

So what's the cutoff for being in the top 1% then? I take it a yearly DONE4 isn't going to get you there.

I have never received one but that may well be due to my privacy settings for the QFF account which say to never even send anything either by post or by email unless directly related to the account maintenance ( such as new cards )

I get Air Magazine and other QF bits and bobs such as the A380 mag etc...

Mrs! gets PG most years now...

Any correlation perhaps? Making WP vs. going double or tripple WP each year?

Interesting to know..

Mr!

I've been PG the last three years. My expiry is Oct ever year. For the last three years I nhave had the following annual SC's "expire":
  • 2006 - 2555
  • 2007 - 2310
  • 2008 - 3490
One thing though - never at any time during that period have I travelled Qantas domestic on anything other than Discount WHY/award fares.

That's very hard going - I don't know if I could do that. If it wasn't for DONE3/4 fares, I'm not sure that I would be able to get to WP in the next year!

Thats hard way to get it !!!
I would be on first name basis with all the QP staff if i traveled that much in whY.
All my work trips and some of my personal in whY, some are on xONEx tickets. The majority of my flights are whY, but more SC earn from J/F (D/A) fares.

I don't get Air , or maybe i got it once i think but not again.

Mr!

I think this might be an interesting point for another post as it's a little off topic - I've started another thread about Air Magazine and who gets it.

I think you missed serfty's point here. (or maybe I did) He is stating that when he travels domestically he only ever travels 'Discount WHY/award fares'

He does travel internationally and in J :!:
