Mornings in Sydney - another QF/EK Alliance consequence

Don't worry - the new airport master plan includes a strategy to solve all SYD's traffic problems. In five years they're going put in a new road and add more traffic lights. That will sort everything out!

I think the English approach works best. 43 roundabouts. Problem solved.

I have a QF5 next Monday and a QF127 the Friday after. Sounds like I better get there early!

Last couple of trips I have actually taken the train, works really well if you don't have too much luggage.

I used to catch the train and it works well with one bag, but now living in the public transport black spot of the North West, so car it will be. I was more concerned about beating the crowds into the FLounge ;)

I caught the train in on Fri 14th June arriving at about 0930. It was quiet all the way through from train to check in to security to FLounge. Only got busy from 1130 onwards in the build up to the US departures. I sat down for Salt and Pepper Calamari at 1130 and by 1145 it looked like all tables were full. I was not missing out on that treat - fantastic!!!! As was the Sweetcorn fritters for late breakfast! :)

Sounds like you all need to have a glass of bubbles and some oysters at the Caviar House counter instead, not nearly as crowded!

Of course you have to pay but... at least there are seats and tables and it is quite pleasant watching the world go by...

Small price to escape what sounds like a zoo in the QF F Lounge!!! ;)

Ooh Roo

Willie

Sounds like night departures are the way to go then!

Yes yes yes, evening departure, no or less traffic into mascot, airport very quiet, no queues through immigration or security, express pass bit needed (save for a rainy day), and lounge very peaceful.

I spent 45 minutes in the mess this morning. Took 25 minutes to enter Marsh St from Flora St (multiple sets of lights thanks to idiots blocking the intersection). What a debarcle and it isn't going to get any better - and it doesn't help when every second car (in particular taxis and buses) decide they will push in at the front of the queue.

And then getting back onto the M5 Westbound was worse - that whole intersection was blocked by these people coming off the M5 from the east, making it impossible to get on the freeway. I know that intersection is bad every weekday with people clogging the intersection but it took another 20 minutes to get onto the freeway.

If anyone knows someone in the police or highway patrol, tell them to sit at the intersection of the M5 and Marsh St/West Botany St on a weekend from 7am to about 9am - you will make a killing fining all these idiots whole block the intersection. It is ILLEGAL for a reason. Rant over.

Saturday morning was also congested. Again, this has more to do with SYD arrivals and departures, not just QF/EK.
