Most comfortable decent looking travel clothes?

What's with so many people wanting to wear long pants on planes? Don't they feel tight especially on long haul?
It’s almost certainly a psychological thing, but I find jeans or chinos far more comfortable than shorts.
I also tend to get a little cool on flights if I’m wearing shorts.

Its partially a safety thing! You don’t wanna be going down a slide in shorts or thin PJs!

It’s partially the arrival thing… depending where you’re off to long pants may be appropriate for the destination.

Long haul economy you’d want loose fitting clothes. In business or first many will change into something else.

Just a preference. I prefer smart casual when travelling and am either going from cold to hot climate or hot to cold. The pants I wear are made for travel and have lightweight stretch fabrics with other features like stretch waistbands and hidden pockets - definitely not standard chinos or jeans which I find too uncomfortable for travel.

Reckon the old black VA 'sleep suits' are some of the best PJs ever!. For flying.
I've still got about 5 sets of them and they are my go-to lazing-around-my-hotel-room duds. I team up the bottoms with my navy blue chesty bonds singlet. Actually the VA top was always a little bit rock-star with that silver logo. I've worn that with jeans on plenty of occasions. They look The Business even if VA itself doesn't so much these days. We live in hope

Another vote for Lululemon (the casual stuff, not gym gear). A bit pricey, but gives you the comfort of pajamas whilst maintaining a fairly smart look which I find perfect for travel.

I really like Kathmandu's 'Flight Pants' (which also come in shorts). You can usually pick these up on the cheap, the shorts version cost me $30. The pants look quite stylish and almost pass for smart-casual. And, I've hiked in them as well as a type of cargo pant. And all they were designed for was sitting in a plane seat, which is pretty cool. I'm in NZ right now which is why this URL is regionalised, but I'm sure you can track the right one down. Should be able to get them much cheaper than this Kathmandu NZ
The women’s ones seem to be out of stock in everything other than tiny or huge 😭
As an alternative to the Kathmandu flight pants (which I have also worn a lot), the Lululemon Commission pants are excellent. Slightly dressier but just as comfortable. Rear pockets have snaps (slightly more secure than the flight pants) and there is a small side zip pocket.

Is there a women’s version of the Lululemon ones?

Long pants are comfortable. They look good and feel good.

And in my experience aircraft cabins are cool to cold and best to cover up so jacket is compulsory.

Temperature, looks and ease. I get easily cold onboard, therefore the long pants, socks and long sleeves (polo & tin sweater, or a long-sleeve shirt). Plus, in my eyes, it gives a nicer / better appearance when lounging around in transit. Lastly, ready for cooler climates, too, without the need to change clothes on or pre-arrival (e.g. Helsinki Airport metro station platforms are bloody cold in winter time - but very suitable for the clothing locals wear by default).

I'm quite liking woolen long pants with a matching cardy and t-shirt. I probably look about 30yrs older than I am, but I've enjoyed the stretch and comfort of the fabric.
The pants are almost like this, but with pockets. I do miss the back pockets of my jeans, as the merino pants aren't really up to throwing your passport into the pocket.

Kathmandu flight pants i have used a few times flying but for some reason the side zip dhows up for getting an extra pat down.

light weight pants long sleeve business shirt slip on shoes, light jacket if it’s going to be cool on arrival, has worked fine for the last 40 years.

I always wear the Sing Air First pjs, but I do change back again before leaving the flight! Where there's no First I wear looser fitting jeans like Lacoste rather than Versace and a short sleeved business shirt, and airline socks. I'm usually much too warm rather than cold.

As a mature woman, I wear a mid length dress, cotton and no crush, Homyped sandals with Velcro due to swelling of ankles. A full length black coatigan which is usually up in the storage.

While in the plane on long-haul flights (usually MEL-LHR in J) I wear QF pyjamas. Anything else is too constricting.
If I get up to exercise or visit the loo, I wear my favorite comfy sneakers, because my feet swell.

I take a pair of hotel slippers with me for loo visits on a flight. Leave them on the aircraft at the end.

Inbound to SIN on long hauls I tend to wear shorts. But I'm agonostic regarding shorts, either them or a pair of chino like travel jeans that I find quite comfortable (don't like more formal trousers, nor denim jeans).

Shirt - main thing is to have a pocket, useful place for passport and boarding pass especially if transiting somewhere. So a polo or casual business shirt.

On board longer flights (especially in business) I change into a $10 pair of Decathlon fitness shorts - really comfortable for sleeping + a cheap white T-shirt. As a result I don't care whether the airline supplies PJ's or not (and even if they do, don't use the pants). If I sleep in long pants or long PJ's (which I never wear, even in the depth of winter) I'm usually too hot, especially if using a blanket.

Today, GVA-LHR-SIN I'm just wearing a neat pair of casual shorts, a typical casual business shirt with a white T underneath, so all I have to on the long sector for sleeping is remove my shirt, and maybe change into the decathlon shorts if I feel like they'd be more comfortable.
